Morning Run: parkrun 75

steevc just finished a 4.98km run, that lasted for 26 minutes.

Description from Strava:
I have missed a couple of parkruns recently. One was cancelled due to icy conditions and then I could not get to one in Edinburgh on Christmas Eve. It was good to get back to it today.

It was quite mild out this morning with a threat of rain. As I walked around the course to the start I could feel that it was a bit slippery. There were not a huge number of people there, but I chatted with a few who I know. We have a good community there.

As we set off I was not too sure how it would go, but I just go with how I feel. I can see that the first lap was reasonably quick. I was trying to keep up with some others, but they got ahead of me. I was on my own for the second half, but I could hear someone not too far behind. The marshals were cheering us on.

The last lap is always hard, but I managed to find some speed at the finish. Even so another guy came past me. Finishing 21st of 72 is not too bad really.

I hung around to see some others finish and then jogged back to Arlesey with some of them. I did about 10km in total, but I do not bother to log it all on Strava even though it would help boost my annual distance. I have run about 1068km this year, which is not as good as previous years. I will aim to improve on that in 2023.

I did a 'leggie' to show some of the mud. I had some new shorts on that I bought in the sales this week.

There are parkrun events in Letchworth and Stevenage tomorrow. I will try to get to one of those. It is a choice between the mud of the former or a longer journey to the latter.

Glad to know. You get running every day, it is very beneficial for your health. I also go for daily walks. After a few days I will also start running.
