Description from Strava:
It was a lovely morning to be out. The sun was shining, but it had not got too warm yet. I jogged down to the parkrun as usual. The road through Arlesey is closed again as they work on the road, so there was not much traffic. I passed a couple of ladies who are regulars at parkrun.

Last night I finally saw the recent Dune movie as the second part is out and so I needed to catch up. I enjoyed it, but I was comparing it with the David Lynch version that I know quite well. There were some plot differences, but obviously the effects are better. I was home alone so I could have the surround sound turned up as I drank my whisky. I just had to pick up the other half quite late from the station as she came back from her night out in London. She was off early this morning for a night away supervising kids doing the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

It was looking busy at the station car park with lots of runners around. I said hi to the marshals as I walked to the start. It got quite crowded there with a group in Harpenden shirts. I chatted to Alan and Joanne before we were counted down to set off.

It is still a little soft after the first corner, but the rest was dry and firm. A fair few people passed me on the first lap, but I just did my own thing. Most of them will be younger than me, so they should be quicker.

I have often said that this running lark does not seem to get easier. I just have to concentrate on moving my legs. We have been working on a folk song called Raggle Taggle Gypsy with the band and that was going around in my head in time with my feet.

I was keeping up with a few people and we lapped a few walkers on the last lap. I did my usual 'sprint' when I could see the finish, but could not quite catch the younger guy ahead of me.

I came 38th of 149 in 25:54. That was a little slower than last week, but I have had several recent runs under 26 minutes.

I did find my left hip was quite stiff after this run, so I just walked home. That hip has not been right for a few weeks, so I may ease off for a few weeks to let it recover. It is uncomfortable rather than painful, so I do not think it is too serious. I took an ibuprofen when I got back. After a shower it feels better. I may just take a walk tomorrow morning, but I do need to do a food shop today. I also have a music session with some Hivers tomorrow and I want to do some gardening to tidy things up a bit.

This run will go on my Hive feed via Strava2Hive to earn me something. I would love to see more runners on there. Give me a shout if you want to try it.

Run free!

Nice job on your run! I'm hoping I can get out and maybe play a round of disc golf this weekend for some exercise.
