A quick run before dinner

Selfie

I am on another work trip to Portsmouth staying at the same hotel on Hayling Island. We had a long, but productive day. We had to eat fairly late as a colleague is fasting for Ramadan. That meant I had time for a run.

Route

I again ran along the old railway track. As I had limited time I set off fairly quickly. I kept that up on the way out for 3km before heading back. I took the selfie with Portsmouth behind me. The tide was out, so it is more mud than water out there.

Pill box

There would have been lots of defences around here for the naval port and this pill box would have been part of it. There were some information boards along the track with one saying that windsurfing was invented at Hayling Island in the 1950s.

Laps

I took it easier on the way back. Even so I was very warm when I got back to the hotel. I just had time for a shower before we went to a pub just over the bridge. I had haddock and chips followed by brownie as well as a beer. That may have undone some benefits of the run, but that is okay. I feel better for having done it.

Run free and stay well.

I !LUV that you took advantage of the time you had (before dinner) and made the most of it, instead of being an issue or something to complain about.

That dinner sounds pretty amazing to me! I had a hot pastrami sandwich that was pretty killer last night, but I have been craving fish and chips for a while now. I just haven't found the right place to get them. Nice job on your run. I am trying to get back into the swing of things this week too now that my cold is starting to fade.

I've eaten well here as I can have a big hotel breakfast. I never eat that much at home. It's only a short trip this time, but I'll be back soon.

We do tend to go a bit overboard when we are traveling sometimes. It is harder to find those healthier options I have found. We all need some indulgences every now and then!

I need to be careful if I will be doing more work trips. If I can keep up the running it burns off some of the extra calories. It's easy to go crazy when it's 'all you can eat'.

Were you tempted to go round the whole island? I bet you were....!

That would be a long run, but I would like to explore more. I will be back there. There's a lack of paths by the roads and I need to find more off road tracks.
