Morning run: Snow!

avatar

When I checked my phone in bed this morning I was surprised to see the weather app predict snow by 8. By the time I was ready to head out it was coming down, but you can see it was not very much.

Selfie

With the weather and not feeling on top form I was thinking of just doing a gentle jog around Fairfield, but it started to clear up as I ran along the High Street and so I decided I ought to do some hill sprints. I was glad I had opted for long sleeves and gloves, but I was still in shorts to show off my 'Scottish' legs. Strava reckons it felt like -5C.

After a couple of sprints the snow started again and you can see it was quite heavy. It was not too slippery, but the snow getting in my eyes was annoying. I persisted and did all five sprints even thought I thought of giving up after four. They were not especially quick today.

Snow

The snow had pretty much stopped by the time I got back and by lunch time it had all gone. That could be all we get this winter.

Workout

I feel like I had a good workout today even if I was a bit below normal pace. I was certainly warmed up. It will be interesting to see how the parkrun course is, but we have not had it too wet this week.

Run free and stay well.

Ye, it came down heavy for about half an hour, half an hour later it was gone!

Bit windy out now and there seemed to be a few flakes coming down. I don't think it will amount to anything.

My daughter loved the second pic - she always wish to go to a place to experience snowfall.

I know some people have never experienced snow. It's fairly rare here, so can be a big deal. It wasn't enough to cause any issues on the roads today. We are not so prepared for heavy snow here, so it can cause chaos.

I hope your daughter can travel somewhere to see snow one day.

Wow, that is pretty cool to see. I know you don't get it too often. We have a saying over here. It goes something like this "big flakes little snow, little flakes big snow. Basically when the flakes are larger the accumulation isn't as much. When they are small we get several inches.

Once it stopped it melted away pretty quick. Do you talk about it being 'too cold to snow'? I'm not sure if that can be true.

I think it is possible. It's not something we really think of too much though. When we had those -30 degree days a couple of years ago there was very little snow if I recall. It was just horribly cold.

I did consider making a comparison to Snowpiercer in the post as I've just finished the current series :) It's not that bad.

Yeah I heard that we might get a bit of snow in the next few days as well. I'm not looking forward to that. We had such great weather the last few weeks and now it's turning :(

The photo of the snow coming down is nice.

It's a big change from a week ago. Our weather is very erratic.

Yeah, it started here this morning now. I've only seen snow maybe twice here. Never this late in the year though lol

We had a bit more overnight, but still not a problem. My kids are too old to get excited about it.

I'm of that group that has never experienced snow, it must be quite an interesting experience, I'm sure it's very easy to fall in your eyes!

It is only really a problem if it gets slippery. That can happen if it compacts and freezes.

This have been a real mess! I am just thankful that now when it is like that the majority of times I can stay at home and work on stuff I can do from home. :D
