Morning Run - Dodging the rain

I just finished a 7.545km running that lasted about 0hh:42mm:40ss !

It has been a bit wet here lately. I did not run yesterday as it looked like I would get wet. Today was overcast, but dry. Actually there were a few drops when I was out and then it rained after I got back. I did my long intervals routine of six minute sprints with two minutes of recovery. I have now tweaked it a little to give me a bit longer to warm up as I prefer to get to the cycle track before I need to run fast.

The route is very flat and so good for sprinting. As has become my habit recently I turned off the Pendleton Way cycle track to take the broad path north. This did mean running against the wind. After turning round before reaching Stotfold I waited for the next sprint so I could start it on one of the Strava segments that is a straight line across a field. That paid off as I beat my own record and got the 8th fastest time (screenshot says 7th). I am currently the fastest in my age group.

I was happy get the second and third sprint well under 5min/km. That looks like an improvement. I ended with a long jog home.

I see from the Garmin page that I have done nearly 1.2 million steps since I got my watch in January.

Not too many people about this morning, but I saw a couple of lady runners.

Run free and stay well.

You have uploaded 150 running activities, and 43 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 43 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 311.50 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:54 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.655min/km!
Looks like you went a bit faster than usual this time! Nice work!
Have a !BEER for your troubles!

Great work!

I have a Fitbit now and going to have to get back into the swing of exercising again. I've gained 100 lbs since retiring, and no way I can start running. I hope to start walking and maybe get to jogging in about a year once I shed a great deal of this land anchor above my waistline.

Good luck with the weight loss. You need to take it steady to be safe. Just getting out for a walk with help. Take care.

Nice job! It is starting to get hot and sticky here. Even when we go out early in the morning you can feel the heaviness in the air. Spotty showers over the next week may not help us when it comes to getting out.

The temperature was nice this morning for me. Not quite so sweaty when I got back. It just rained heavily again. The garden is going to go crazy from all this rain.

I actually like the rain @steevc, running in the park after being cooked up in the home office all day, .. the rain adds to clearing my mind, .. and the run also clearing some calories ....... for what we are about to receive .... (Pizza) !! 😋 😃

I don't mind a bit of rain when running, but it just puts me off if I look out and it's pissing down. If it starts once I'm out then I just have to live with it. Not sure how waterproof my phone armband is.
