Morning Run - Kids everywhere

I just finished a 7.147km running that lasted about 0hh:41mm:49ss !

Today is my first run since the kids went back to school this week. There were a lot of them around as I headed out towards Stotfold. I was keen to avoid them as much as possible as you do not know who is carrying coronavirus. I had been thinking of running all the way to Stotfold, but there were bound to be loads of kids heading to Etonbury. As I joined the Pendleton Way cyclepath I heard running behind me and a couple of small girls caught up with me. They were probably trying to catch up with their friends. At that point I was still on the warm-up stage, but then I reached the first faster part of my 30-20-10 intervals and so left them behind.

Just past the school I turned off onto the long path that goes between the fields. There were just a couple of dog walkers along there. There is a tree down there where people have left flowers. I have not found out why that is yet.

This route is pretty flat, so I was able to keep the speed up on the fast sections. I took my usual route back around to Arlesey that gets a bit more cross-country. I had to watch my footing there. There is a small hole I see each time, but I almost tripped on it today. The grass has got a bit longer and I did not see it in time. The worn track through the grass is very narrow, so it is a little tricky to run fast there, but I did okay. There was nobody about all the way to the bypass.

When I got to the main road it was really busy and I was not going to take chances in crossing. In the end I jogged up to the railway bridge and went under the road. There was a funky trike parked at the station. Not seen one of these before.

It was a gentle run for the rest of the way and near home I started catching up with kids and parents going to the lower school. Maybe I need to get out a bit earlier to avoid the crowds. I had no issues with my back today and my performance seemed to be about what I would expect.

The big news is that parkrun may return next month, in England at least. I will have to see what precautions they are taking to make it safe for everyone, but I would love to be running with others again.

Run free and stay well.

You have uploaded 188 running activities, and 68 of them have been of similar distances (within 10 percent)!
Here are your 5-fastest running activities of a similar distance:

Over these 68 similar activities, you have travelled approximately 480.65 kms at an average pace of roughly 5:50 min/km!
Your latest run was at a pace of approximately 5.851min/km!
Looks like you went a bit slower this time! Remember that it's important to take some rest days, and do some rehab / prehab / strength and conditioning training too! If you weren't intending to go slower, take a moment to listen to your body, and see if you need something. Check in with yourself!

Me too :) I am not going to let that set-back get me down. If parkrun is coming back soon I want to be ready for it.

Good to see you back at it, no pun in intended.

I'd never go out during school run time, again no pun intended.

Good news about the Park Run, no pun there at all!

I need to get out when I wake up instead of checking the internet first. I could be finished before the kids get out.

It's been a long break from school for the kids. I hope they can get some sort of normality again.

I've run out of puns, pun intended :)

Oh that was a good pun!

Yes the checking the internet thing when you wake up is a challenge for sure.

One upside about Coronavirus is that they've finally got rid of the student's smoking area from my old college - FINALLY - I mean the fact that it survived into 2020 is a disgrace, but it's gone now!

That's one small upside of the new normal at least.

I hardly see people smoking these days. Used to have to put up with it in pubs in my biker days. I wonder if the pandemic has affected how many people smoke. Can't do it with a mask on :)

That is awesome that park run might be coming back. I hope everyone can be smart about the whole thing and adhere to the guidelines so they don't have to shut it back down again.

I think they are planning this very carefully. I will be checking on what measures they use before I risk it.
