Morning Run - Last of the year?

I just finished a 11.298km running that lasted about 1hh:5mm:41ss !

I broke my Xmas running streak as my legs were feeling it. I managed five days with about 35km, which is not bad. Yesterday I went for a walk instead, but my chosen route proved to be too muddy and I had to turn back. Today I did what is probably my last run of they year with the target of taking me over 1400km for the year. I had set a target of 1300km, so I comfortably exceeded that.

The first thing I saw in the garden was a dead rat! Family saw a fox last night on the deck, so maybe that got it.

It was freezing again with a hard frost. That does make it quite pretty with the paths twinkling, but it can be slippery. I did my usual long loop and even risked some mud, but it was mostly frozen.

There were quite a few other runners out with lots of ladies and one guy running with a dog. Maybe they were also trying to hit targets.

I was not particularly quick, but I just wanted the distance today and sprinting would have been taking chances on the frosty paths.

It has been quite a good running year despite the lack of events. I think I am a bit stronger now. I have done seven half marathons when I had only done three in total before this year. It will be interesting to see how I do on a competitive 5km run now. I would hope to see some improvement. Next year I am not going to be too ambitious. I will be happy if I run at least as far. I will keep pushing myself with intervals to try and go quicker for longer. I feel I have some quicker times in me yet.

Run free and stay well in 2021.

I hope you took a picture of the dead rat this time, just for @slobberchops sake!

Great effort with reaching 1400km for the year, and I'm sure with all the long distance training and the speedwork too there will be a significant improvement to your 5k time

Hopefully the parkruns will be able to return next year...

Did you tape the red ribbon around it's middle?

Looks like a pretty solid year of running to me!

Here's to an active 2021! And the return of Park Run hopefully.

*When someone tells you that what you want to do is impossible, change the word in your head to hard. What you want to do is hard. Hard is doable – it just requires dedicated work and effort and you can make it happen.

Nice job on your run and congrats on your accomplishment for the year. I did a short twenty minute workout this morning because I knew I was going to have to blow out the driveway. We got about three to four inches of snow last night. it was really pretty this morning and Jovi loves playing in it.

Clearing snow may be a good workout in itself. My sister had snow in Edinburgh and her kids have been sledging. The forecast keeps saying we may get some snow, but it has not materialised yet. I just don't anything to mess up my running :)
