Morning Run - Dummy run

I just finished a 5.927km running that lasted about 0hh:32mm:27ss !

Another chilly morning and there is still frost in places this afternoon. It was still fairly dark when I set off and maybe being dressing black was not the best idea, but my pasty legs would blind anyone.

On the way down House Lane I saw a light coming the other way along the path. I assumed it was a bike, but turned out to be an electric scooter. Those are not technically legal here, but I see a few around. Once on the Pendleton Way cyclepath I picked up the pace a bit. I passed a young lady I have seen before walking the other way. I could see she was pulling something along and it turned out to be a taylor's dummy! Maybe she is a dressmaking student, but I would not expect there to be classes during the lockdown.

I went as far as the new football club before turning back. It was fairly quiet out there. I was keeping up the pace fairly well, but not really checking on it. The updates in my earphones told me it was okay.

I passed the lady with the dummy a couple more times as I took a back street diversion. At one point she was jogging along, so I wonder if she was catching a train. There would not be many buses at that time from Stotfold. Hope she made it.

I came straight home as I had to get started on work, but still clocked up almost 6km and the pace was good. I was well under 5min/km for short periods. It seems I can get a decent pace when it is cold and without a long warmup. Just have to keep pushing.

Now and again I get comments from people concerned about my health. What I do is by no means extreme. There are people my age who can run about twice as fast and clock up much longer distances. I am happy enough with how I do and I feel fine. Many people my age could not do this, but I am really just a fun-runner who is trying to stay fit. I think it has a net benefit. I am probably not running enough to do real damage to my joints and may actually make them stronger.

Run free and stay well.

Nice job on your run! When my wife and I went for a walk the other day she noticed that our pace was much greater than it had been. I think it was because it was so cold. We were just trying to get it done as quickly as possible so we were basically jogging :)

I think you're doing really well @steevc your obviously getting stronger and 30 minute runs like this would definitely not be doing any damage to your health...Keep it up mate.

*When someone tells you that what you want to do is impossible, change the word in your head to hard. What you want to do is hard. Hard is doable – it just requires dedicated work and effort and you can make it happen.
