Morning Run - Exploring

I just finished a 11.651km running that lasted about 1hh:9mm:40ss !

Fairly warm out again today, but I was running anyway. I started off on the usual route, but at Fairfield I diverted down a path I may not have used much. I am not totally sure if I have been that way. It took me to the 'cliffs' above the Blue Lagoon. I could not see a way around there without risking a very steep descent and so skirted the lake the other way.. Part of that was through an area that looked like it had been cleared recently.

The grass was long in places, but nature is going mad right now with the warmth and recent rain. The lagoon has fencing and locked gates to restrict access. There were some drownings there a few years back when non-members got in. There is a sailing club and some other stuff goes on there. They had one bit of fence that seemed to be made of old railway track.

I took their access track back to the road, avoiding a few cars on the way. Then I crossed the railway to head over to Henlow Camp across the fields. The horses were in their field, but I did not see any foals. There are a few little climbs on this route as well as the bridges. There has been some recent building work at the camp, but they still have the old pillbox guard post that probably dates back to at least the last war.

Then it was across the fields to get home. I did a diversion to get the distance up, but my legs were tired.

Not a fast time, but then I had to carefully worth through some brambles and nettles in places.

I need to get my endurance up as the half marathon is fairly soon. Will just take it easy if I have to.

Run free and stay well.

We're going to be in the mid-30's (C) here today, and after a few hours out in that heat yesterday, I've decided to stay in; otherwise I'd be out riding again. It'll take me a couple weeks to get used to the heat.

Good luck preparing for the half marathon!

Cheers!

I make the most of the cooler months for running. but it doesn't get super hot here too much. You do have to adapt to it, but even so it's hard to run when it's hot.
