Advantage PSG

I just got back from the football viewing center, and I told myself their was no way I'd not write about this game. What a game of football. Attacking play at it's finest, brilliant defensive and midfield display, and of course, goal keeping masterclass at both ends. This is Uefa Champions League, this is football.

A lot of people underate Arsenal, and I think they are a really solid team. Over the years, they have grown in confidence and mentality, made the right recruitments and grew stronger. Albeit, they have been unlucky, sometimes architect of their own downfall, I strongly believe it's only a matter of time before the club starts to experience major success and silverware. Today's game was against a really solid and compact PSG side. PSG dominated early proceedings at the Emirates, and just 4 minutes in got the opener, as Ousmane Dembele latched on to a lay off from Kvicha Kvaratshkelia. The first half of was more or less one way traffic, as it was a full Paris onslaught, and it seemed like the Gunners were hanging on. Late in the first half, Mikel Arteta's men started to grow into the game, and carried the momentum into the second half of the game. Their effort showed result very early on into the the second half, as Mike Merino put the ball into the back of the net, but The goal was disallowed for offside. The gunners continued to ask all the questions, but they couldn't get past an inspired Gianluigi Donarumma. The Italian shot stopper was at his brilliant best again, making five saves in the game, to ensure his team go into the second leg with the advantage. The second leg is finely poised at Parc de Princes for next week.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Gianluigi Donarumma - The young Italian was named player of the match after another stellar display between the sticks. He made a total five saves, and earned a clean sheet for his brilliant performance.

  • Kvicha Kvaratshkelia - The Georgian keeps showing the world what a talent he is. Following a fine display down the flank, causing numerous trouble with his tricky play for the Arsenal backline, he also earned himself a well deserved assist.

  • Declan Rice - The only standout player for me amongst the Arsenal ranks. The English man continues his fine display in the UCL, completing 51 of his 54 attempted passes, and creating 2 chances. He and his team would have been gutted not to have gotten the equalizer.

What a game it was. I'm a sucker for good football. Doesn't matter if it's my team, or another. I enjoy top class footballers, going at it at the highest level. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, even though I was rooting for PSG to go on and win it. A good game of football. Tomorrow, we also get to enjoy the Barcelona vs Inter Milan game.
