It does feel like everything is working in favor of Lionel Messi winning the world cup. I don't understand it even. First off, I have to say, I am a wee bit disappointed as I actually selected the Netherlands to win in the Hivebuzz contest. Two Ls today, bloody hell. Earlier today, the best national football team in the world, Brazil, crashed out of the world cup on penalties, and also Argentina almost lost to the Netherlands, but they managed to go through to the semis on penalties.

It sure has been a crazy tournament of upsets. After a shocking loss to Saudi Arabia, Argentina has been able to pick themselves up and win all three of their last game leading to today. Lionel Messi has particularly been inspiring for the team, as he looks like a man on a mission. After an outrageous pass from Messi to put Molina through on goal who gives them a one-nil lead 35 minutes into the game, Lionel Messi looked to have wrapped the game up with a 73rd minutes penalty, but Weghorst had other plans. The Besiktas forward came from the bench to tie the game at the death and force it into extra times with a brace. But it was not to be for the dutch.

Next, Argentina faces Croatia in the semis. Later tomorrow, Morroco faces off against Portugal, while we round off the quarter-finals with England battling it out with France. A game to look forward to. The world cup has been exciting thus far, let's hope more drama is in store for us. Thank you for reading. Cheers.
