EPL M.D 32/FA CUP ROUND UP

The football season is gradually coming to an end, as we see the biggest cup competition getting to its final stages, albeit most League competition still looks to be undecided in terms of teams to be crowned. Still, we can almost be sure of the next Italian Champions. Even with it all coming to an end, the entertainment level does not look like it will be dropping anytime soon. On the contrary, we are getting to the climax. Teams are still getting thumped, and the drama seems unending. It is why we love the beautiful game.
There were a lot of exciting games from Friday to Sunday, but I am going to start with the shocker of the week.
NUFC vs TOTTENHAM (6-1)
We were treated to an absolute shocker on Sunday, as Newcastle thumped Spurs for six. Yes, you read it right; SIX. Twenty minutes into the game, Newcastle was already up by five goals. It's the highest-scoring twenty minutes of football in the English top-flight division since the mid-nineties apart from City vs Watford in 2019. Cristian Stelini had gone with a back four for the game at St James' Park; something they hadn't done since last year. It looked more like a poor team performance all-round rather than a tactical flaw. Jacob Murphy and Alexnder Isak, both scoring a brace was as shocked as the fans at the opening encounter. Indeed we must be talking about history. Now you wonder, would Harry Kane stay at Tottenham any longer? The English man got a consolation goal just after the resumption of the second half, in a game in that his team was completely outplayed.
OTHER EPL RESULTS
On Friday, Arsenal fought back to earn a point against relegation-battling Southampton. The trophy looks to be slipping away from the Gunners as City has an advantage now. West Ham ran riot against Bournemouth, four goals to nothing. Brentford was held to a one-one draw against Unai Emery's villa, while Leicester came from behind to take all three points against the Wanderers. Liverpool ran away with all three points in a five goals thriller against Nottingham Forest while Roy Hogsons Palace was held to a goalless draw against 10-men Everton.
FA CUP
The results this weekend mean we would have a Merchester Derby final for the first time in the history of the competition. City eased past Sheffield United thanks to a Riyad Mahrez hattrick, while United slugged it out with Brighton till penalty shoot-outs. Solly March's howler was the only miss in a fourteen-spot-kick drama. United sets themselves up for another silverware already this season, while City still have their eyes on the treble.

As for Newcastle, I just went to confirm that Chelsea will still play them at home before the season ends.
