Invasion of the Ladybird: November 21 2021
The weather has turned much more chill over the past couple of days with temperatures leaning towards the frost mark. Yesterday was a beautiful day, the sun brilliant and the air sharp and bracing, a great day for getting a line of sheets out to dry or, indeed, opening all the windows for an hour or two to air the house.
When it was time to close the balcony door, I found the frame and surrounding walls were dotted with ladybirds with many spots, a swarm of them all over my work room. I wondered where they had come from and why they were out so late in the year and what had attracted them to the open doorway. With the aid of a glass and thin piece of card - the flap from a box of PG Tips, I managed to gather them up and shoo them out the door, back into the sunshine.
