Black lady birds with red spots: December 6 2021

I just managed to capture this ladybird before it kamikazed off the side of the desk. It was so unusual - the ones I have been seeing over the past ten days or so have had very large spots, sometimes just two, sometimes many, but this is the first time I have seen a black one with red spots. Like last week, just marching across the desk.

I made another trip to the recycling centre today, in the icy drizzle. So satisfying to tip one of those giant supermarket bags full of redundant technology into the electrical recycling bin. One laptop was pre-2009. Other things - phones, cameras, iPads - are obsolete now. And many other once useful but now unrequired inventory. Only occasionally am I finding things I didn't know I had, most of it, I know I do. It's very liberating to get rid of, so much less to remember.

We're moving on to the books now ...
