Promoting Hive to the wider cricket community

Let's get the obvious out of the way, Hive doesn't have a thriving cricket community.

There are a few users around who like the sport and might comment on a blog about it ( @cryptoandcoffee , @birjudanak , @coolguy123 ) but not enough that you could call it a "community" at this point in time.

To overcome this problem I am adopting the approach that if the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain.

As well as blogging on Hive I own my own domain dedicated to T20 cricket

https://t20-head-to-head.com/

It's been up for just over 12months and this time of year, right in the peak of the IPL it does pretty well in regards traffic (at least for a small domain run by some guy who has no clue about web design). This week alone I've had over 23,000 unique visitors to my site about 2/3 of whom come via search engine traffic.

Writing content that ranks well on search engines is of course a lot easier on a niche domain like my own than it is on Hive. Also a lot of the content on my site refers to stats and records that need constant updating and of course the blockchain doesn't allow for that.

However, what will, in opinion, work better on Hive than it does on my domain is the day to day blogs and analysis that I post, especially if I can bring a few more cricket lovers over here with me and that is what I'm attempting to do at the moment.

The below shows the number of views that I've had on my blogs via the PeakD front end over the past 7 days

Screen Shot 2022-04-03 at 12.34.19.png

you can view your total views via PeakD here

These in my opinion are pretty good numbers and to put into context, on Thursday the top post on that image above (LSG vs CSK match preview) was the 14th most viewed post on PeakD.com that puts it right up there with some of the biggest projects on Hive like Splinterlands not mention some of the communities top earners.

How I am driving this kind of traffic to Hive?

Simple, I'm still posting my blogs on my domain but just as a snippet with the user needing to follow the link to PeakD to get the full blog

As well as hundreds of people (hopefully thousands by the end of the IPL) being introduced to the Hive community via the awesome PeakD.com I've also managed to recruit 2 new users. I'm hoping that they have some quality content to begin promoting shortly.

While 2 isn't a huge number, I think it's worth remembering that all Hive needs to survive and ultimately thrive is exponential growth. If every user on Hive brought in just 5 new people a year that growth would be off the charts by the end of this decade!

I think those stats are excellent as mine were depressing having an average read of 40 seconds when the post is a 3-4 minute read lol. If you can get new users I can delegate Hive to get them going so no issues with resource credits. I think you maybe onto something here and we need to push these ideas.

Yeah, it's nice to see people actually reading content that you create! Makes the effort worthwhile.

Thanks for the offer. I've delegated some HP myself. If these guys can actually start producing quality content then I'll promote them to the Sports Talk community.

It's all a numbers game, a certain % of the people who come across Hive are going to create an account and then a certain % of those who create an account will actually do something meaningful with it.

Hi @talesfrmthecrypt, happy to have interacted with you after long time.

I haven't been that active on Hive right now due to my job and haven't been posting on Sports content at all although I love to.

I will give it a try.

The community we created to popularize blogging on Cricket on Hive didn't go as expected due to very less number of bloggers posting on the community and has been inactive.

It's good that you are trying to bring in more Cricket lovers to Hive thru your own domain and I will be happy to do my bit as and when I get some time.

Just looking forward to my home team of RCB playing out tomorrow against winners of inaugural edition back in 2008, RR.

No problem, hope you are keeping well.

That should be a good match tomorrow. Rajasthan have been playing some good cricket, have a balanced squad and I think Sanju Samson has tactically been the best captain in these early stages.

For RCB, looks like Kohli likes playing on this pitch and against this Rajasthan attack!

I am doing good, Thank you.

Yeah, RR is the team to beat as they have ticked most of the boxes.
They have fire power in their batting and bowling is one of the best too.
It will be a dull outing if RCB can't put on big score if they bat First.

Have a good day :)

Let me tell you, that traffic is phenomenal and I know just how much effort that can take. wolfgangsport.com has been up for going on 4 years and I only just started bringing in 7000+ views a week.

I appreciate the idea as well you've just given me. Every one of those 7000 views is an opportunity for me to bring them over to HIVE and the Sports Talk tribe. I'm going to play around with something on each new post to divert some traffic across.

That would be great. Even if you both only bring a couple of new recruits, they are recruits we would not have gained otherwise.

I need to thank you. You've inspired me to create a spin-off blog to Wolfgang Sports with a new website I've been working on since last night. It will be a football blog with a satirical type of writing. Man, thank you for the inspo!
