Por último, en el Mutua Madrid Open, el pupilo de Ferrero ganó a Alexander Zverev, por 6-3 y 6-1, en 62 minutos, para llevarse su quinto título. El sexto de su carrera llegó como broche final, con este US Open.
Carlos Alcaraz won the US Open by defeating Casper Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1) and 6-3 and, incidentally, has become the youngest number one in the ATP ranking of the history. The Murcian, only 19 years and four months old, entered the US Open as number 4 in the ATP ranking and leaves New York as the new number one in world tennis.

El murciano, con sólo 19 años y cuatro meses de edad, ingresó en el Abierto de Estados Unidos como número 4 del ranking ATP y se marcha de Nueva York como el nuevo número uno del tenis mundial.
