Today was a good day. Day 11: My Actifit Report Card: January 25 2023

Well...

Today was a very good day...at least in my opinion.

So, for the 'scorecard' I ticked off all the boxes.

2 Dog Walks
2 Coin hunt walks
Sit-ups, Push ups, Stretch routines
Read Bible
Pray

All completed!

As for an account of the day:

Get up and wake my son up.

Why is it great? My teenage son woke up without hassle! Horray!

Take my dog for a walk. Wasn't raining! Wasn't pitch black! Win for me :)

Got back from walking the dog and surprise surprise, my son was ready to go to school without me having to try and hurry him out the door! Horray again!

Take my son to school then head to the park for my coin hunt walk Another 5k done in 52 min. My goal is much faster but for now I'm happy just getting those steps in.

Then I hustle to take recycling to the depot, go home and tidy the house, do some situps, push-ups, stretches and then...

Go to work.

Now going to work may not seem like part of a great day but honestly there is nothing like finishing a shift to make you appreciate the day. If I'm just at home I never quite appreciate the free time as much as I do when my shift is over :)

Today was a short shift so I got off while its still light out so another trip to the park and another coin hunt round for another 5k.

Head home and pick up the dog and take him for another 3k walk.

And as part of a 'good day routine' I made sure to call my mom. No special reason but I know she likes to hear how things are going.

Get home and my son made dinner for himself (just reheated some Chilli I left for him..but still pretty happy with that)

Then I did a bit of prep work on diet food. Very simple... made carrot slices. It may not seem like much but here is the thing I'm tired from work and walking and I see Cookies on the counter or carrots in a bag in the fridge. Guess which one is getting eaten?

Now if I have carrots cut up and ready to eat there is a chance I make the healthy choice. My son even surprised me by asking to take a handful to his room to munch on while studying for his Biology final exam! Chance he'll take a carrot from the bag in the fridge...absolutely zero!

After that....

Make a batch of cookies.
Make a batch of hummus
Prepare some aqu vitae from the chickpea water for some cookies later on.
Clean the dishes.
Do the laundry
Do more sit-ups, push ups, and stretches.

Then its time to wind down by reading my bible, praying, and making a post for the end of the day.

But here is a little thing I like to keep in mind....

today could just as easily be considered a lousy day. My toe hurts because I have a blister from all the walking. I'm hungry a lot from eating healthy food, I had to fill in at work when I wasn't scheduled, I had to wake up early to walk the dog, and I didn't get to watch a movie I wanted to because I was busy cleaning and cooking.

The difference is simply how I choose to view things. Look at the positive and its a model day for what I want to do everyday. Focus on the negative and I'll certainly find it.

Lucky for me I've chosen to look at the positive.

Side note....

My phone was low battery from such long walks. My watch recorded all my steps and today was closer to 30000 steps.

So overall pretty happy with today..
