My Actifit Report Card: May 7 2023

Sometimes its best to just take a look up every now and then. You might just see something beautiful.

Then again, you might just get a face full of rain.

Today started pretty much like every other day. Get up, get dressed, and take the dog for his morning walk. 40minutes later I have 4000 steps and I'm back at home.

Then its time to get ready to go to work. I really dislike Saturday shifts. I'm the only pharmacist on shift so usually it means I have nothing to do for half the day and I'm swamped the other half. Everyone just seems to come in at the same time.

However, I make it through my shift and then its off to Church. It's actually nice having church on Saturday night. Especially nice since there is a pre service dinner (by donation) and after service dessert.

Not having to cook. Huge bonus.
Getting together with the congregation. Nice way to finish the work week.

Of course after the service I have to walk the dog again ....

I get to see the derelict house down the street (which is still valued at over half a million..crazy).

The elementary school down the road with the cherry trees in bloom on their grounds.

The ducks and geese hanging out by the lake.

And a few other geese hanging out with their goslings. Side note: Don't get too close those geese get pretty protective of their little ones.

Overall a pretty good day.

and of course tomorrow will be doing the walking all over again.

Thanks for reading.

Am not allowed in the rains and will hopefully go out with an umbrella.

I can totally relate with you on such kind of shift at work and am glad to know that you are a pharmacist.
I have been popping too many pills lately and I hope that I can make some enquiries regarding their safety of use.

I love going to church too but we make sure the service doesn't last long so that people can go prepare their meals since there are no serving of meal before or after the church activity.

Ohhh... two replies in only a couple hours. Thank you.

Couple of things: First... I love answering medication questions so if you have questions I'll do my best to answer--not sure the best way to send questions on Hive though 🤔

Second... The meal at our church is part of our community outreach. The meal is free to any member of the community and the church members participate in preparing the food and serving it to others. Plus we also join in and sit and chat with members of the community or each other. Church members can eat free or donate to help it run, community members are always free if they are hungry or want company.

Our church service is very regimented in how long it takes. There is even a countdown timer in the back of the church so the pastor knows if he is running too long 😁

Third... I laughed so hard when you mentioned that you can't go out in the rain. If it is a medical condition I'm sorry for that but..... The place I'll be homesteading and retiring to is very wet and rainy.

On average 237 Rainy day a year.

There is a reason its so green around here :)

(My current place is the rainiest city on Canada. The place I'm going is the rainiest town. )

Wow..

Its interesting to hear about all these and I must commend your church services.
Around here we only hold small donations once in a while to give to the less privileged in the church for their meals, but no cooking or serving is done in the church.

Am glad I made you laugh and wish I can do that over again.
I have a medical condition that doesn't allow harsh weather condition, neither hot nor cold.
Maybe you are familiar with sickle cell anaemia, it is very common here.
Cold from rains is one major trigger of a pain crisis and I do shy away from staying in the rain alot.

Have fun and keep enjoying the weather.

Yes I am familiar with sickle cell anemia. My oldest son has heterozygous sickle cell (carrier but very mild symptoms). If you have full sickle cell I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to do three (or more) jobs with the lack of energy typically associated with the condition. I salute you for your perseverance.

As for my church we are a Mennonite Brethern offshoot of the Christian faith. Our main beliefs are of course Jesus, the bible and faith in God. However, our church life is focused on serving the needs of others: feeding the hungry, helping the sick....well....

That pretty much sums it up .

Again, thanks for writing/replying and sorry if I take up too much of your time
