My Actifit Report Card: June 7 2023

I'm sure you have noticed a similarity between my days.

Wake up early in the morning. Today woke up at 6:45 so waited until I got my son ready for school before I walked the dog.

Walk the dog and notice this tree. At first I thought it had odd flowers but it actually had coloured seed pods.

That was interesting.

After that I had to hustle to the gym to do my new member appointment. It was actually kind of fun. I got chatting with the admissions person and got talking about Hive, Diet, and lots of cool stuff.

That got followed by a simple gym workout.

Then off with my son for a checkup about his finger. You may have read that it was almost torn off a while ago. Today was the day he got an all clear to go back to work with his finger intact.

After that it was off to the dentist for a sore tooth. Unfortunately even with trying to fill a hole it looks like the tooth is cracked so I need to see an endodontist and have to wait for over a month. A sore mouth for a month. No ice cream for a month during summer.

That just sucks.

Then home, post on Hive, have some dinner and as usual...

Off to walk the dog again.

Where I got to see a parade of geese heading back to the water.

Overall a full day if not the most interesting one.

Thanks for joining and reading to here.

Have a great day.

I hate toothaches and don't have to wish that anyone should endure that.
How are you managing the pain..

With the same advice I tell anyone dealing with pain.

  1. Be positive. Think of the good in life (even if its hard) because if you focus on the pain it will be much worse.

  2. Focus on the moment. Thinking about having to deal with this for 6 weeks until I see the endodontist is like trying to jump over a mountain. Impossible. However, while I can't picture enduring 6 weeks....I can endure the next minute. After that I focus on the minute after that and so on.

  3. Distraction. Find something....anything.... to avoid thinking about the pain. Music? A Game? A Video? Cuddling the dog? Posting on Hive? Whatever I can do to not thing about the pain in my tooth.

Of course medication is also useful but it works so much better when also using other coping techniques.

Let me save this somewhere.
It will be very helpful.
I have had painful crisis that sometimes last for weeks, this would totally be needful.

There are more techniques available as well. Imagery. Hypnosis. Biofeedback and more. They require practice to be effective but they can be as useful as medication (or herbs as you mentioned you like to use those). Even as a Pharmacist I'll often recommend saving medication for last because coping well is often better than relying on a tablet.
