My Actifit Report Card: January 18 2026
...
Today I didn't even leave the hotel. I mean its an airport hotel and there is nothing really here to see. So, how did I get enough steps to post? Well, on the hotel's treadmill of course :)
Actually that's part of my actual lose weight and get in shape plan.
No distractions
Everyday life has a habit of getting busy. Seeing this, doing that, checking out something new all add distraction to a day. It can be fun but not always conducive to getting in shape.
Staying in the hotel with no food in the room? No temptation to scrounge for food. If I get really hungry I could walk to the Alfamart or pay the really high prices for food in the hotel. However, I honestly didn't have many cravings for food yesterday unlike normal days when stress and availability of food make me lose willpower and eat what I shouldn't.
What did the day look like?
Morning: Do stretches, Do Balance exercises, Unpack clothing and clean the room ....
Then
BREAKFAST.

Started with a salad because I haven't had very much green in my diet over the past few days. It also fills the stomach a bit so I'm less tempted to eat the yummy and not diet friendly carbs that buffet breakfasts always have.

However, salad alone isn't going to cut it if my goal was to only have
So I knew I needed to eat a fair amount more to survive for 24 hours.

So next up was the protein in the form of an omelette. Usually I love them with cheese but I'm trying to lose weight so avoid the cheese and just have two omelettes with vegetables so more protein.
Forgetting the protein or not getting enough will absolutely lead to me losing muscle and feeling hungry which mean diet is finished.
After getting the protein portion of the meal out of the way it was time to check out everything else that looked protein heavy.

Baked beans, chicken sausage and chicken stroganoff.
Now I never have eaten baked beans for breakfast before. I know they are common British breakfast food but Canadians? Not so much. Sausage is usually pretty high in fat but I'm hoping chicken sausages are somewhat better. Chicken stroganoff has sauce which usually means oil but...well, why not.
Carrots and Potatoes hahaha.... Yeah I got a little to try them out.
Next up try some stuff I wouldn't normally try.

The patty is some sort of fermented tofu with breading. Tempeh? Then there were tofu cubes with vegetables. Finally more beans. Yeah I'm not that keen on brown beans but protein is good and fiber is really important so double dose there.
Even got some social interaction with a guy named Raj. An American of Indian/American descent. Interesting guy who seemed to have travelled everywhere. The most interesting part is I would have taken him for my age (50s) but he was actually 70yrs old!
It reminded me of why I'm exercising and stretching. I want to get to his age and still be healthy enough to travel everywhere.
After breakfast?
AFTERNOON
More stretches and balancing. Head to the gym and get my steps in. Do strength exercises. Then back to the hotel room to have a shower and veg out until...
EVENING...
More stretching, more balancing, and now more strength exercises but basic ones like deep knee bends, planks, lunges, and push ups.
I also went back to dust off my GitHub account, Supabase account and Netlify account so I can get back to Vibe coding for the Great Little Dragons community that I really want to get going.
Then before bed? One more batch of stretches, balancing exercises and body weight strength exercises.
And while I was trying to do just the One Meal a Day with lots of water during the day....
I cheated a bit.

I liberated that from the breakfast buffet in the morning and kept In the fridge so I had a little something to munch on to tide me over until breakfast.
And that it. That's my day to try and get rid of this gut I've developed and help keep me moving into my retirement.
Don't know how well it will work but I'm going to try and keep it up.

Those airport hotel breakfasts are pretty good. I like a big workout before heading down there as well.
Well, I'm working towards "One meal per day" (Intermittent fasting) so I go and eat in the morning, let it settle then head for the gym. I'm hoping I can use it as a fun weight loss strategy :)
Side benefit of the awesome breakfast, its in a fairly inexpensive hotel with a very nice gym. Awesome :)
