The Sports Nerds 10/02/2022

Great Show tonight!! We talk about week 4 in the NFL, The Bills and Cowboys win, but the Browns lay an egg and I have lowered all expectations for the remainder of the season. We go through the concussion issue in the NFL and what we feel needs to happen, between the NFL, the NFLPA, and the Teams themselves. Eliot and I survived a Hurricane this week, with Eliot being sent back to the Stone Age, and me... well... I was inconvenienced. Enjoy the show!!!

Join me and my cohosts @jongolson, @scubatexan, and Eliot "Big E" Lomba each and every Sunday night at 7:30 PM Eastern time for The Sports Nerds! 60 minutes of sports talk, trash talk, and laughs as we discuss the week in sports.

The head injury thing is a big conversation right now because the players union sees it as a good opportunity to get money from the league. If they really care about player safety they should start by doing something to prevent all the devastating leg/knee/ankle injuries that happen in this game. Today I watched my team's first round draft pick have his leg snapped like a twig, but there have been so many others that have ended seasons and careers too. Everyone just shrugs and acts like that's no big deal though.

Hey, @jordand89 thanks for responding. The very first thing the NFL can do is mandate that all stadiums have natural grass. The stadiums in Arizona and Vegas are proof that stadiums can have natural grass, even in a dome. Natural grass is still the gold standard for reducing injuries. Field Turf and Matrix Turf are still the leading cause of knee injuries, concussions, and other injuries. At the end of the day, going old school is probably the best course of action.
