A sad day - My Actifit Report Card: October 6th 2025

After our late night drive across most of the country, we were blessed to have another day with my partners dad before he passed away this morning.

When it became obvious that treatment wasn’t going to save his life, he was brought to the palliative care unit, where he had peaceful surroundings for his final day on this world.

I am in awe at how strong herself is in coping with this loss, as she adored her dad and had revolved her life around him since he began to need more and more care. Never once did she complain.

I think it will be in the quiet times ahead that she’ll feel his absence most keenly; the hours in the evenings where she would sit with him and hold his hand.

Or perhaps it’ll be when she sees his favourite kind of dog.

Grief can hit us in the most unusual of circumstances, but I suppose there is a sort of comfort to be taken in the knowledge that these moments of pain can also flood us with memories of our loved ones.
