Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is back! I had a few great weekend evenings watching games and chatting with friends on the Hive FPL Discord Server.

I discovered FPL last season, and it quickly became one of my favorite games. It's so much fun, trying to make predictions based on real-world information. My goal last season was to end up in the top 200,000 players out of the 8.5+ million players overall. I ended up in the 150k range and learned a lot about both the beautiful game of soccer and FPL. This year my goal is to land within the top 50k.

One of my favorite FPL podcasts is the FPL Wire. These guys are great, I highly recommend listening to the show. One of the hosts of the show said in a pod last year something to the effect of; FPL is about putting yourself in a position to get lucky.

That really stuck with me and defines how I approach the game. This week, I got lucky. Other weeks I may not be so lucky. So it's good to enjoy it when it happens. 😀 A nice way to start the season.

I scored 84 points in game week 1. This puts me right outside the top 100k. But it is so early in the season, rankings at this stage don't mean much. I could be in the top 10k next week and then outside 300k the week after.

I chose a big at-the-back approach, 5-3-2 formation, with a premium keeper. TAA and Cancelo, Salah, Haaland and Jesus are must-haves in my opinion.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and City got clean sheets. These teams had decent chances of getting clean sheets, and I was lucky to choose them. My strategy is to field as many players from the top sides as possible.

As it stands, my plan this week is to save my free transfer and have two free transfers for gameweek 3. Of course, that could change before Friday. But hopefully, my players remain healthy and fit. Right now I can field XI players with a home game in Gameweek 2.

You are comfortably sitting at a decent spot in our fpl table. haha.

I've been hearing about FPL for a while, but I never checked it out, but the moment I heard of HiveFPL, I knew there was no better time than now. Haha.

And I'm very far from where you are sitting in that table. Have a lot of catching up to do.

You have such a strong squad. I like your defenders approach. I also prefer having plenty defenders as it's easy for them to get Cleansheet, especially if they play for top sides.
