Liverpool vs Manchester United Injury Updates

The EPL clash between Liverpool and Manchester United this weekend is a crucial one for both sides. Crucial for The Reds, who would love to show one more time their strength and invincibility, especially on their own turf. It is also crucial for United, who would love to see themselves advance into the top 4 teams, and it would be a remarkable one for them is they are able to end Liverpool's unbeaten run.

Manchester United is the only EPL team that Liverpool has not defeated in the league this season, after their first match in Old Trafford last October needed in a 1-1 draw. Save for that draw, Liverpool would have been said to be in a winning streak in the league this season. As crucial as this weekend 's encounter is however, there are injury concerns on both sides. A boost on one, and worry on the other.

During Manchester United's FA Cup replay clash against Wolves on Wednesday, Marcus Rashford was taken off the pitch after an obvious injury when he went down from a challenge by Doherty. Rashford was a 64 minute substitute for Daniel James, but after about 15 minutes of play, he was replaced by Jesse Lingard.

Liverpool on the other hand could be receiving an injury boost ahead of United clash. The Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp has said he is optimistic that the trio of Fabinho, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip will be fit in time for Sunday’s game.

Midfielder Fabinho has been out of play for Liverpool since late November with an ankle problem. Lovren has been out due to a thigh injury since December 10 while Joel Matip sustained a knee injury and has not played for Liverpool after their match against United last October. The centre-back initially suffered the injury against Sheffield United in September but has suffered a recurrence that has kept him sidelined.

Here is a huge chance for Liverpool to again register their dominance in the league and probably extend their lead on the table, especially since they're having a full week devoid of activities after their win over Spurs last Saturday.
