A Goalless Tug of War - Liverpool vs Manchester United

The English Premier League is gradually heating up as every team is improving and upping their performances so as to finally clinch the trophy or make it to the top four spot. Currently, Manchester United is sitting top of the table with Manchester City closely following behind. So far, the Red Devils have played 18 games and have gotten 37 points. On the other hand, Liverpool have played same number of games but with only 34 points.

Liverpool had the chance of topping the table with a good margin but they failed to take advantage of it by playing many ties and eventually lost a game. The likes of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane have been underperforming of recent and this is a problem to the team. Whereas the backline is still not very solid due to the absence of Jeo Gomez and Van Dijk, the midfield.is taking shape as we have Ox Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara and Henderson back in action.

Let's talk about the game between Liverpool FC and Manchester United

This fixtures was a big and anticipated one since it was involving two big teams and title contenders for that matter. Before the game though, majority were tipping the Red Devils to grab all three points following their good form and Liverpool's inconsistencies and poor form. On the other hand, I never saw Liverpool losing because I was very confident they will impress considering they were playing at Anfield.

As I predicted, Liverpool impressed as they had more ball possession than their opponents, Manchester United but were lacking class in front of the goal. The Reds attack wasn't so solid; Sadio Mane, Firmino and Salah were clearly not at their best. Manchester United on the other hand were being more defensive than attacking which made it difficult for the Liverpool front liners to penetrate the goal.

Overall, the game was boring as both sides didn't give it so much of the fight and it ended goalless. However, the outcome of the game favoured Manchester United more than it favoured Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp and his men have to step up their games if they want to still be title contenders.

I don't see this happen even if 12 players would be playing for Liverpool.
