Celebration Saturday, by Hive and e-Sports

What happened this Saturday, April 29th will remain as one of the unforgettable moments in 2023. In fact, in one of the year-end publications in which I select the best moments I have experienced during these 12 months, this will undoubtedly be among the most important.

The reason for this is very simple: three events came together that made me spend a spectacular evening and made me write again in this community to which I return again and again, but when I think it is worth writing what I experienced during the weekend and avoid boring those who read me.

In this publication this author will try to express in the best possible way the emotions experienced by him and those who accompanied him. It will always be difficult for emotions to be reflected, through writings or words written in the best possible way. However, I will try to capture what I experienced on this day, which has been one of the most productive, beautiful and intense days of this 2023, which is already beginning its fifth month of the year.

Day of Celebration

I consider that if I have any virtue or something that identifies me is to take care of the details of the people around me. I don't like to overlook a birthday, an important anniversary, an interesting date with friends and family or a celebration date with my wife.

The 29th of each month is important to us because on October 29, 1997, this relationship began and is now moving forward to its 26th birthday, but every 29th we celebrate as a living reminder of our love affair. Every day of the almanac that falls on that date is sacred to our love. We have even made every February a leap month, so that it has 29 days and we can make our celebration.

There have been many ways we have found to celebrate ourselves and this time it could not be less. But there was a situation that could threaten our celebration because I had been invited to participate in an e-sports event and, in addition, members of the Hive Cuba Community would be at the event.

What should I do?

Should I break with tradition and go on Sunday the 30th to the celebration that my wife and I do every 29th?

In a moment of lucidity I talked to my wife and we decided that I could be in the activity with my fellow community members, enjoy the soccer video games that would take place in the Sports City of Havana, Cuba and at noon we would go to the swimming pool of the Comodoro Hotel in this city and celebrate our anniversary month. We agreed to do so and after enjoying several electronic soccer games and being with my friends from Hive, we boarded the bus that would take us to the hotel.

Already at the hotel pool our enjoyment began. In this place, to which we return again and again we enjoyed the wonders of the place, the spiritual tranquility and did many of the things we wanted and could until the economy of the pocket allowed it.

In this place we listened to music, we danced, we sang. But we also remembered moments lived in these more than 25 years.
As expected and thanks to the heat that embraces us these days we decided to refresh with the rich beer of Cuba and tasted a tasty Creole food. It was a spectacular evening and I thank my wife, despite her insistence on thanking me for what we experienced.

One of the things I appreciated and enjoyed the most that day was being able to meet and share with a group of talented young people who as young people are finally digital and that many like me who grew up being analogical find it difficult to understand some of their things, but we are convinced that this is their era and we must follow them and support them.

Among those young people were many with whom I interact through this platform, who read me, support me, criticize me. With some of them I had the opportunity to exchange and expose my ideas about the platform. They gave me their criteria on what I could do to improve. In the end, I left with an injection of youth and knowledge that I will be eternally grateful for.

Electronic Sports

April 29, 2023 is a historic day for the Cuban Sports Movement, because on that day the first national e-sports event was held in Cuba. A total of 128 contestants gathered at the Havana Sports City Coliseum to develop an event that would define the first national champion of this activity in the country.

It was a very well organized activity in which children, teenagers, young people, adults and women participated. How proud to know that among the people who participated in this first meeting of electronic sports in Cuba was this servant.

The chosen sport was soccer, which is very popular and the contestants had the possibility to choose their teams and players. In addition to the above, the organizers made participation games and in the premises were sold various gastronomic offers that delighted the participating public.

I could not be there until the end or see the finalists, because, as I told you, I had to leave with my wife to enjoy the event, but I was able to know from my colleagues present at the activity that it had a spectacular closing and that it had a very beautiful closing.

Final reflection

How much emotion shared on this day and how much learning.
How fortunate I am to have the wife I have, to enjoy the sport in all its aspects and to belong to this ecosystem called Hive.
I have always thought that there are many ways to have fun, spend pleasant moments and be happy and not necessarily money or material wealth have to be present.

What I experienced on Saturday confirmed this thesis because I could see that learning more about the activities in which I participated gave me knowledge and pleasure which is synonymous with happiness; it made me be with people who are part of the close circle of Hive who have helped me and supported me which is the same as feeling loved. But, above all, I spent several beautiful moments with my wife who made me laugh, dance and live and that is to feel loved.

So yes, it was a special day because I felt wanted, loved and I was happy.
