Yes, indeed, that's true, but not simply for the graphics, though those help a lot too. !MEMEs are so useful because, one, they are an excellent way to educate people in bite-sized chunks, and two, because they also often evade algorithms on various web2 platforms. πππβ¨π€

Maybe you haven't set up your Lightning Wallet on #Nostr correctly, and that might be the reason why you weren't receiving "zaps" there. π€π€― Anyway, !HOPE that you have still backed up your secret key there! π€π€
!INDEED
!WEIRD
!PIZZA
That was the main problem, I couldn't set up my Nostr wallet, since I live in the US, it said that it was unavailable to me, so I had to set up the Alby wallet, which was more of a pain than it was worth. Yes, I still have the key saved. πππβ¨π€
!INDEED
!PIZZA
!WEIRD
Remember that there are many #Nostr apps and Bitcoin Lightning Wallets (either custodial or self-custodial) that you can choose from that is available in the country where you live (even in the little island of Hawaii). π€π€π€
Anyway, unlike a Hive account, a #Nostr "account" exists only as a secret key, and as such, only any transaction that got signed by such key exists, and there are no "accounts" to begin with. π€π€― When someone creates a new "account" on Nostr, the Nostr app being used makes such account follow itself, so there is a signed transaction for other Nostr people to follow. ππ€π
!INDEED !WEIRD !HOPE !HUG
I did know about multiple wallets, but not about multiple apps or frontends. I'll have to look into it more closely.
Yep, I know it's not like a Hive account, since Nostr is not a blockchain, though it acts like one somewhat. πππβ¨π€
!HOPE

#Nostr is just a protocol, unlike Hive (which is a blockchain platform by itself). π€π€―π€ I wonder what Nostr app(s) you used when you tried participating there. π€π
!INDEED !HOPE !WEIRD !PIZZA

!HOPE
!INDEED
!PIZZA
!WEIRD
I think that Primal is one of the most popular #Nostr apps, as it appears on or near the top of search engine results when searching for "Nostr apps". π€π€―
Anyway, here's a reminder for you to be careful putting your Nostr nsec key on apps and websites, since it is like a Bitcoin private key which if stolen, then your accumulated zaps that you haven't withdrawn yet may be lost (if the access to your Lightning Wallet requires just your Nostr nsec key) and someone else can publish posts and comments using that key, because nsec keys cannot be changed. π§ββοΈπ€―π€π€

Paying more or less $10 per month just to unlock premium features for a #Nostr app sounds expensive, and paying for a premium plan on a particular app makes you avoid using other Nostr apps until your premium subscription ends. π€πΈπ€― In general, the more popular an app, the higher its premium plans are. πΈπ€―π€
Since there are no Nostr "accounts", they cannot be "deleted", so anyone with an
nseckey can publish posts and comments using that key indefinitely. π€―π€― Some Nostr relays accept certain "delete account" transactions, though even if just 10% of the relays don't accept such transactions, a Nostr "account" will continue to exist despite a "delete account" command being broadcast. π€―π€!WEIRD !INDEED !HOPE !PIZZA
That whole way of doing things is a big turn off for me, which makes me far less inclined to go through the hassle of setting it up.
OK, that's good to know. It seems a bit chaotic. πππβ¨π€

I wonder what you think about #InLeo's premium plan that costs $10 per month (or $100 per year, and can be paid using any of the various Hive-based tokens that they accept). π€π€―πΈ You can see the benefits of the plan on this link. π€π
#Nostr being just a protocol means that relays don't necessarily have to agree with each other regarding how they process transactions, which arguably makes it even more decentralized. π€π€―π€
Well, while I think it's cool that they do it, I can't imagine myself ever paying for it myself.
That's great, and yes, it sounds chaotic. πππβ¨π€
!HOPE

!PIZZA
!WEIRD
The #InLeo team aims that their #LeoThreads app becomes a Web3 replacement for the popular mainstream centralized social media platform that used to have a bird as its icon. π€π€
Some #Nostr relays themselves (not just the Nostr apps) can choose to require payments (typically in Bitcoin Lightning) to be used by Nostr client apps (and that's one way to say that they are decentralized !INDEED). πΈπ€―π
