My Actifit Report Card: May 7 2022

Today I headed over to Prescott's landmark - Thumb Butte - for a nice long hike in an area where I haven't been on in over a year.

Lulu and I did our customary couple of miles early this morning. It's nice to be out before the day heats up and there's plenty of smells for Lulu to enjoy (but no deer even though she keeps looking for them 😂).

The trails around Thumb Butte are very scenic and there weren't too many folks out there today. My senior park pass gets me free parking and from there it's a steep and steady climb up to the Butte.

After that steep climb it was a much easier and gentle descent back down towards the trailhead. Nice dirt trails with no big rocks to have to worry about.

Up near the crest of this trail is a small memorial to the 19 firefighters who died in 2013 fighting the huge Yarnell fire south of Prescott.

The Hotshots were based in Prescott and weren't re-formed after the tragedy.
It felt great to be out on the Butte although it would have been better to be at least able to jog the trails but maybe in a few months that might be possible.
