My Actifit Report Card: January 4 2024

Our first snow of 2024 (and the first since early last year) was only an inch or so of very light snow and the roads were clear by the time we woke.
It was, however, very, very cold when we headed out for our morning walk. Lulu didn't seem to mind the frigid air and I had already had a nice hot cup of coffee to warm me up.

The light coating of snow helped to brighten up the otherwise drab winter landscape and make our normally boring walk that much more enjoyable.
A bitlayer we were off to Lynx Lake to see if the higher elevation had brought more snow but the forest was coated with just an inch but it now looked great and perfect for a loop around the lake.

I was concerned that the eastern dirt trail section might be a bit tricky but a lot of the trail was bare and even the snow-covered parts weren't all that
tough. I did have to watch my footing on some of the slick rocky sections as Lulu was really moving along the trail and having a good time.

The lake was still and the area very quiet as we rolled through the southern end and onto the nicer paved section.

Even the freezing temperatures and snow couldn't keep us as well as a VERY hardy kayaker from being out at the lake. Even Lulu was probably impressed by the boater on the water (she didn't go for any of her usual little dips in the water today).

Our pace quickened when we headed back on the paved trail. The snow was pretty much gone and thankfully Lulu was happy to keep up a nice trot for the next mole and a half back to the trailhead.
