My Actifit Report Card: March 2 2026
Poor Lulu was feeling under the weather today as she wasn't walking well and her hips really seemed to be bothering her. So our morning walk was an easier miles and I hiked up on the mountains by myself.

All of the snow has disappeared from the mountains and the ground looks much more alive and the landscape is already beginning to show more green growth. The forest service is conducting controlled burns of dead wood and smoke could be seen far off towards Prescott. Fortunately the air around Mingus and Woodchute mountains was clear with a nice breeze to keep things mild.

The first mile was an easy and gentle climb up to the actual trailhead where the climb became more pronounced as the trail became single track and increasingly rocky.

As the altitude was going over 7000 feet my breathing was more labored but not especially so and my heart rate stayed under 100 pm.
The trail continued to climb up towards the peak of Woodchute Mountain which is the high point of the area but I would turn around short of the crest to head back down the rocky trail (thankfully no slips today).

Then it was back onto the service road for the drop back to the large parking area and a nice refreshing drink for me.
Not bad with 6 miles of trail today among the scenic mountains.

Sorry to hear that Lulu's not well. May she get better soonest so she can join you on your hikes. Your walks are truly fascinating, and your mountain trek looks challenging. Thank you for sharing your lovely photos. It's the closest I get to trekking outdoors. Enjoy a lovely week!

She's better today but going g to let her rest from any long hikes for a bit. No pain, just not as strong in her back legs but otherwise doing well. Thanks for caring for my little sweetie
Very nice scenery there amonst the mountains. I would be happy walking to the top of that trail.
