Summer Solstice in the Bighorn Mtns - My Actifit Report Card: June 21 2025
We enjoyed a short little trip over into northern Wyoming to visit the Medicine Wheel archeology site on the first full day of Summer.
We got an early start and reached the parking area after miles of driving through low clouds and fog as we climbed up to almost 10,000 feet altitude. There was still snow in spots but the forest service road would be clear for the hike up to the site.
Thankfully the sun was up and the cold mist had ended but ot was still a vigorous hike of almost 2 miles up to the site but the altitude didn't bother me too much (my wife did have to go slower) and Lulu was having a great time stalking the local marmoset and frolicking in the snow.
After an hour of exploring and simply relaxing we had a much easier hike back down. A great hike and I'm definitely looking forward to a return visit in September.
