Speed, Health & Armor: Stats That Decide Who Wins First

image.png

In Splinterlands, every monster has three main stats that affect battle outcomes. They are Speed, Health, and Armor. Mastering these stats is a beginner’s shortcut to smarter gameplay.

Health

Health is how much damage a monster can take before dying. Tanks or front-line monsters usually have high health to absorb attacks, protecting fragile back-row monsters.

Armor

Armor reduces physical damage (melee and ranged). Think of it as a shield; the more armor, the less damage the monster takes from physical attacks. Magic attacks, however, ignore armor entirely.

Speed

Speed determines attack order. Faster monsters strike first, potentially killing enemies before they can act. A well-timed speed advantage can turn a battle before the opponent responds.

How Stats Interact

  • High health + armor = durable tank
  • High speed + ranged/magic attack = fast damage dealer
  • Low health + high attack = glass cannon (high risk, high reward)

Beginner Mistake

New players often focus on just attack power, ignoring speed, health, and armor. This can lead to strong monsters dying before they even attack.

Strategic Tip for Beginners

Always consider stat synergy. A balanced team might include:

  • One durable tank (high health + armor)
  • Two attackers (moderate health, good attack, with speed to strike early)
  • One magic damage dealer (ignores armor)

Remember that a monster dies once, but its stats affect every battle. Choose and position monsters based on what survives and hits first.
