Madre de un ajedrecista. | Mother of a chess player.

Hola chicos, es un gustazo estar por acá otra vez, en esta ocasión quería contarles como ha sido mi experiencia con el ajedrez o bien conocido como el deporte ciencia.
Éste ha sido para mi un mundo nuevo, maravilloso en el cual he conseguido tantos beneficios, amistades y logros personales y es que así creo que es el ajedrez, te abre un mundo de posibilidades y de beneficios incontables en todos los ámbitos de la vida.
Todo comenzó por allá en el año 2013, mi hijo que en ese entonces tenía 7 años, estaba de vacaciones escolares y yo decidí inscribirlo en un plan vacacional que se llevaba a cabo en la Casa de la Cultura en Guanta, allí realizaban varias actividades recreativas y culturales como pintura, arte, teatro, modelado en arcilla y ajedrez. También realizaban paseos y vistas guiadas a ciertos lugares históricos de la zona.

Un buen día mi hijo me dice "mamá hoy nos enseñaron a jugar ajedrez"; debo confesar que no le di mucha importancia a lo que me decía en el momento, más que nada por ignorancia, al día siguiente me dice "mamá la profesora de ajedrez me dijo que si me gustaba las clases van a empezar en 3 semanas en esa escuela y es todos los días en la tarde". Vuelvo yo con mi gran grado de ignorancia y le dije, pero hijo ¿para qué? vamos a ver que sabes tu de ajedrez ... pues tomé un libro y empecé a realizarle pregustas sobre movimientos de las piezas, debo confesar que me quedé muy impresionada por el nivel de conocimiento que había obtenido en escasos días.

Le dije esta bien hijo al iniciar el año escolar te inscribo en la escuela de ajedrez, no me creerán pero el brillo en sus ojos me confirmó que estaba haciendo lo correcto, aunque definitivamente sabía que me iba a volver loca, ya que él también estaba en una escuela de béisbol.

Empecé a llevarlo a la escuela de ajedrez dos veces por semana, ya que dos días veía practica de béisbol y los viernes y sábados tenia juego, todo marchaba bien por al menos dos o tres meses, hasta que de pronto empezaron a chocar las fechas de los torneos de ajedrez con los juegos de béisbol y era un verdadero dolor de cabeza decidir a cual llevar al niño, aunque el siempre estuvo claro que prefería ir a los torneos de ajedrez, mas el béisbol también era una responsabilidad adquirida, era el único cátcher; él era bastante bueno en cada cosa que hacía, aun lo es.

Acá transcurrían nuestros días antes del ajedrez.

Pronto decidimos dejar el béisbol para enfocarnos en el ajedrez, por elección del niño, él estaba feliz y yo muy orgullosa de mi pequeño ajedrecista, así comenzó la verdadera aventura en la que hoy día somos un equipo; sí, así como leen "equipo" y no precisamente porque yo practique ajedrez.
Con el tiempo me fui involucrando cada vez mas con las actividades de la escuela.
Recuerdo perfectamente nuestro primer viaje con la delegación hacía la capital del país, nada mas y nada menos que para participar en un torneo Centroamericano.

Con la gran responsabilidad compartida con otra representante y gran amiga, nos dispusimos a asumir el reto de ser chaperonas de varios niños de la escuela durante una semana completa, un gran reto que asumí con amor y compromiso.
¿Qué cómo nos fue?
Excelente, los niños se portaron a la altura, para casi todos era su primera experiencia en un torneo de este nivel.

Desde entonces mi hijo empezó a competir en distintos torneos y yo siempre fui su fiel compañera y fanática número 1, por horas esperaba cada ronda en cada evento.
Yo poco a poco me fui empapando en el tema, empecé a formar parte activa de la escuela de ajedrez, hasta llegar a ser la presidenta de la junta directiva, cargo que vengo desempeñando desde hace casi 6 años.
Estoy muy orgullosa de decir que el primer torneo IRT se realizó en Guanta gracias a mi iniciativa, ese primer torneo me costó mucho estrés y hasta lágrimas, se me hizo bastante difícil ganar reconocimiento y respeto en un mundo que hasta ese momento era liderado sólo por hombres. Pero ese mismo día me prometí seguir aprendiendo y no realizar un torneo mas en mi municipio que no fuera IRT y así ha sido, he logrado demostrar que las mujeres también tenemos capacidades de liderazgo y trabajo en este campo nada fácil, hoy día mi equipo de trabajo está formado 100% por mujeres líderes, ejemplares, trabajadoras y comprometidas con el trabajo en equipo, por y para los ajedrecistas no solo de nuestra escuela, sino para todo el que necesita de nuestro aporte.

Y así mi vida ha ido cambiando de madre de un ajedrecista a organizadora de torneos y hasta árbitro, sí así como leen árbitro, durante estos años me he ido preparando en el tema de arbitraje y organización de eventos, puedo decir que manejo perfectamente el programa swiss manager, aunque tengo grandes amigos árbitros que me acompañan y apoyan en cada evento, yo misma monto cada torneo y hago todo lo que se refiere a la parte técnica y solicitud de avales y permisos.
A pesar de tener algo de experiencia arbitrando torneos propios de la escuela y ser asistente en torneos regionales, una vez incluso en un torneo realizado en el estado Monagas, en los recientes XX Juegos Nacionales realizados en el estado Miranda, me estrené como árbitro nacional, por su puesto estaba súper nerviosa, sin embargo muy feliz por la oportunidad y la confianza depositada en mí.

Creo que poco a poco las mujeres vamos ganando terreno en este mundo liderado por hombres.
Esto es solo parte de la historia de una madre de un ajedrecista, ya luego les contaré el sufrimiento de una madre detrás de cada partida, anécdotas de las largas jornadas de espera, porque sí! mi hijo es de esos chamos a los que les gusta pensar bien cada jugada que hará.

Hi guys, it is a pleasure to be here again, this time I wanted to tell you how has been my experience with chess or well known as the science sport.
This has been for me a new, wonderful world in which I have achieved so many benefits, friendships and personal achievements and that is how I think chess is, it opens a world of possibilities and countless benefits in all areas of life.
It all started back in 2013, my son who at that time was 7 years old, was on school vacation and I decided to enroll him in a vacation plan that was carried out in the House of Culture in Guanta, there they performed various recreational and cultural activities such as painting, art, theater, clay modeling and chess. They also conducted tours and guided visits to certain historical sites in the area.

One fine day my son tells me "mom today they taught us to play chess"; I must confess that I did not give much importance to what he told me at the time, mostly out of ignorance, the next day he tells me "mom the chess teacher told me that if I liked the classes will start in 3 weeks in that school and it is every day in the afternoon". I came back with my great degree of ignorance and I told him, but son, what for? let's see what do you know about chess... I took a book and started to ask him questions about the moves of the pieces, I must confess that I was very impressed by the level of knowledge I had obtained in just a few days.

I told him ok son at the beginning of the school year I will enroll you in chess school, you won't believe me but the sparkle in his eyes confirmed to me that I was doing the right thing, although I definitely knew I was going to go crazy, since he was also in a baseball school.

I started to take him to chess school twice a week, since two days I saw baseball practice and on Fridays and Saturdays I had a game, everything was going well for at least two or three months, until suddenly the dates of the chess tournaments started to clash with the baseball games and it was a real headache to decide which one to take the boy to, although he was always clear that he preferred to go to the chess tournaments, but baseball was also an acquired responsibility, he was the only catcher; he was pretty good at everything he did, still is.

Soon we decided to leave baseball to focus on chess, by choice of the child, he was happy and I was very proud of my little chess player, so began the real adventure in which today we are a team; yes, just as you read "team" and not precisely because I practice chess.
As time went by I became more and more involved with the school's activities.
I remember perfectly our first trip with the delegation to the capital of the country, nothing more and nothing less than to participate in a Central American tournament.

With the great responsibility shared with another representative and great friend, we set out to take on the challenge of chaperoning several school children for a full week, a great challenge that I took on with love and commitment.
How did it go?
Excellent, the children behaved at the height, for almost all of them it was their first experience in a tournament of this level.

Since then my son started competing in different tournaments and I was always his faithful companion and number 1 fan, for hours I would wait for every round in every event.
I gradually became more and more immersed in the subject, I started to be an active part of the chess school, until I became the president of the board of directors, a position I have been holding for almost 6 years.
I am very proud to say that the first IRT tournament was held in Guanta thanks to my initiative, that first tournament cost me a lot of stress and even tears, it was quite difficult for me to gain recognition and respect in a world that until then was led only by men. But that same day I promised myself to continue learning and not to hold another tournament in my municipality that was not IRT and so it has been, I have managed to show that women also have leadership skills and work in this not easy field, today my team is formed 100% by women leaders, exemplary, hardworking and committed to teamwork, by and for the chess players not only in our school, but for everyone who needs our contribution.

And so my life has been changing from mother of a chess player to tournament organizer and even arbiter, yes as you read arbiter, during these years I have been preparing myself in the subject of arbitration and organization of events, I can say that I handle perfectly the swiss manager program, although I have great arbiter friends who accompany me and support me in each event, I myself mount each tournament and do everything that refers to the technical part and request for endorsements and permits.
Despite having some experience refereeing school tournaments and being an assistant in regional tournaments, once even in a tournament held in the state of Monagas, in the recent XX National Games held in the state of Miranda, I made my debut as a national referee, of course I was super nervous, but very happy for the opportunity and the trust placed in me.

I believe that little by little we women are gaining ground in this male-led world.
This is just part of the story of a mother of a chess player, and then I will tell you the suffering of a mother behind each game, anecdotes of the long days of waiting, because yes! my son is one of those kids who like to think well every move he will make.
