BASKETBALL CLINIC.

TOPTEENZ KIDS SUMMER BASKETBALL CLINIC REPORT.

Date: 25th of September to 26th September, 2019.

Venue: YMCA Kakuri- Kaduna State, Nigeria.

The clinic commenced with the arrival of the officials and kids with parents and well wishers at 7:30am while the team leader received the officials,kids and their parents.

The kids were quickly moved into changing room to change before they were been given breakfast between 7:50am to 8:10am. The kids were allowed to rest for 50 minutes to an hour so as to allowed for proper food digestion.

At 9:15am,the kids were officially welcomed to the basketball clinic camp while there was interlude of music at the background.

Proper introduction follows as clinic rules,roles and objectives were spell out.

DAY 1:
The kids were engaged in warm up and stretching for proper body alertness before they were been shared into classes according to their age under the auspices of the coaches on ground.
The kids were thought a brief history of the game of Basketball in what was tagged ' Know The Game'.
The kids were taken into the fundamental, rules,career choice of the game.

DAY 2:
Day 2/section started with warm up and body stretching. This was quickly followed by recap of day 1/activities.
After the recap,the kids were put through some fundamental skills and techniques of the game of Basketball such as; passing, catching, dribbling, shooting and footwork.

CHALLENGES:
The major challenges before and during the two days clinic includes;

1. Insufficient Balls.
2. Limited Canvases.
3. Shortage of Clinic T-shirts
4. Funding.

RECOMMENDATION:
I will like to recommend that more attention and support should be given to the grassroot development of Basketball as it will go along way to help project the game in Nigeria. There should be direct link between BCAN and the grassroot coaches or Basketball Academy.

CONCLUSION:
As we look forward to the next edition if the clinic, permit me to thank Almighty God to the success recorded before,during and after the clinic and also to all coaches, Red Cross Society,Participants and Parents for all their contributions and to BCAN,thank you for given us a voice as grassroot coaches.
