Quinces are a fruit that I like and that has a number of useful qualities.

Quince fruit contains pectin, cellulose, vitamin C, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and many other nutrients.

The astringent taste characteristic of the fruit is mainly due to the tannin, which is an excellent antiseptic.

Quince seeds are very useful. They contain vitamin B17 which has unique anti-cancer properties.

Ah! Yes, I remember we had a quince tree in the garden of one of our houses. As a child I used to try taking a bite out of one but regretted it of course, the taste being rather acid! But they do make excellent jam! My mother used to make it and it was delicious.
