Argentina will play the world cup final. At his own brilliant best, Messi will play in the ultimate game. Lionel Messi has a shot at his crowning moment as Luka Modric says farewell. Argentina into the finals of the world cup for the sixth time. In a bittersweet moment of personalities. One great will get to glitter on the most shimmering stage of all, while the other mastidal away head bowed. But it is about more than just two men great though they are, Messi of course played his part and more with a penalty and some mercurial magic but it is an Argentina team and Argentina nation which celebrates a semi-final victory, the scoreline of which reads Argentina 3, Croatia nil.

It was in 2016 when Lionel Messi broke down in tears Sunday night after they suffered another tournament heartbreak to chile in the finals of the Copa America.

After that incident, Messi announced his retirement to the world, which came as a rude shock.

Personally, after that defeat and also hearing about his retirement, I was sad. “How can he retire at the age of 29?” I said to myself.

I could understand his frustration. He lost to chile initially in the finals before losing to the same chile again. Indeed, he was fed up and he decided to quit.

But Diego Maradona never wanted that for Messi, so he convinced Messi to reconsider his decision.

He said, “Messi has to stay in the national team. He will go to Russia in form to be world champion. He has to rely more on boys who can help take the team forward and less on those who say they have to go.

Those who are saying he should quit are doing it so that we won't see what a disaster Argentine football has become.”

Messi came back to international duties and went to the Russia 2014 world cup. Again, he lost to the germans in the final. Yet another loss, still haven’t gotten an international trophy.

He went further again and broke the deadlock, getting his hands on his first international trophy by beating Brazil in the Copa America Final.

What a moment! It was for Lionel Messi. Fast forward to the 2022 world cup held now in Qatar and Messi, together with his fellow Argentines, is showing the world that it is their time to claim the most prestigious prize on planet earth.

Lionel Messi has been sensational in this world cup tournament and he proved his legendary status against Croatia with a dazzling performance worthy of awe.

Messi and his Argentine compatriots are showing the world that the hour has come.

I couldn’t agree more. Messi has shone the brightest for Argentina in Qatar and if they win this, it would be 100% deserved.

If France make it through, I think they’ll have a tough final on their hands.

I hope so @iamchuks. I really want Argentina to win. Most especially Messi. But France wants to upset them.. It should be one hell of a game.

It's going to be a very tough one though, especially with the fact that they are facing France. But i wish them all the best.
