Amigos de Movies & TV Shows hoy quiero hablarles sobre un documental muy bueno que estuve observando, ayer estaba sumergido en netflix, quería ver algo deportivo y me encontré con el titulo: Juego Sucio que trata sobre delitos, controversias y escándalos que han sucedido en el deporte. son 6 capítulos, estaré comentando sobre el primero llamado manipulación de puntos, un caso extraordinario que sucedió en la NCAA de baloncesto en estados unidos.

Hi! Friends of Movies & TV Shows today I want to talk to you about a very good documentary that I was watching, yesterday I was immersed in netflix, I wanted to watch something sports and I found the title: Foul Play that deals with crimes, controversies and scandals that have happened in sports. there are 6 chapters, I will be commenting on the first one called point manipulation, an extraordinary case that happened in NCAA basketball in the United States.

Todo comienza en los años 90, cuando la estatal de Arizona logra formar un equipo muy fuerte de baloncesto en su universidad, tenían un entrenador que pudo reclutar grandes jugadores y de momento se convirtieron en un equipo muy fuerte en la NCAA. La universidad comenzó a ganar muchos millones de dólares, gracias a todas las victorias y popularidad que consiguieron hacer con el equipo, pero desafortunadamente a los jugadores no le estaban pagando lo que les correspondía, simplemente tenían una beca deportiva que no alcanzaba para sus gastos y muchos de ellos venían de una situación de pobreza. La estrella del equipo Hedake Smith, quien era la figura principal de la plantilla, un jugador que tenia a los espectadores enamorados, no estaba recibiendo un ingreso económico y un día conoció a un corredor de apuestas, para ese momento todo cambio en su carrera deportiva.

It all starts in the 90's, when Arizona State managed to form a very strong basketball team in their university, they had a coach who was able to recruit great players and they became a very strong team in the NCAA. The university began to earn many millions of dollars, thanks to all the victories and popularity that they managed to make with the team, but unfortunately the players were not being paid what they were entitled to, they simply had an athletic scholarship that was not enough for their expenses and many of them came from a situation of poverty. The star of the team, Hedake Smith, who was the main figure of the team, a player that had the spectators in love, was not receiving an economic income and one day he met a bookmaker, at that moment everything changed in his sports career.

Benny Silman era el corredor de apuestas que conoció Hedake Smith, hombre que luego llamo a Joe, otro hombre con mucho dinero y le propuso un negocio basado en apuestas. Todo se trataba de arreglar los partidos de baloncesto, para mi pensar esto puede ser muy difícil, pero Hedake Smith era un jugador tan talentoso que podía conseguirlo, así que comenzó el plan de manipular los puntos y si todo salía correctamente ganaría mucho dinero. Hedake Smith le comento el negocio a otro jugador del equipo llamado Isaac Burton, quien rápidamente dijo que si por el ingreso que iba a obtener y entre los 2 harían todo lo posible para manipular el juego dentro de la cancha. Recuerden que estos jugadores no ganaban mucho dinero, le propusieron obtener mucho por cada partido, teniendo ellos 19 años de edad, cayeron muy fácil en la tentación sin saber que seria su mayor error.

Para la primera apuesta se le dieron las indicaciones a Hedake Smith, este buen jugador logro que el resultado quedara exactamente como se lo pidieron, todo fue felicidad, ganaron mucho dinero, pensaron que esto seria fácil y para todo el torneo. Volvieron a ganar otro juego manipulando el marcador, las apuestas le estaban dando mucho dinero a Joe, quien luego les pagaba a Hedake Smith y a Isaac Burton. Cuando llego la primera derrota, fue un poco dolorosa porque le genero una deuda a Hedake Smith, estos jugadores habían gastado todo el dinero obtenido, por lo que se endeudaron con una apuesta grande, quisieron manipular el marcador de un partido importante, si ganaban iban a obtener una gran bolsa, pero todo salió mal y además el FBI comenzó a sospechar de los movimientos que se estaban haciendo en los establecimientos de apuestas.

Es interesante como podemos conocer el mundo de las apuestas mediante este documental, aquí vamos a entender muchos conceptos que quizás jamás hemos escuchado, también observamos donde se pueden hacer apuestas con un capital muy grande, ya que no en todos los lugares se puede hacer y se visualiza como la linea de puntos baja o sube, todo esto depende del dinero que entra hacia un equipo como apuesta, Joe manejaba tanto capital en sus últimos juegos que movió la linea de puntos considerablemente, tenían 11 puntos de diferencia y tras colocar 2.5$ millones de dólares, hizo que bajara a tan solo 6 puntos de diferencia en la tabla de apuestas.

It is interesting how we can know the world of betting through this documentary, here we will understand many concepts that perhaps we have never heard, we also see where you can make bets with a very large capital, because not everywhere you can do and visualize how the point line goes down or up, all this depends on the money that comes into a team as a bet, Joe managed so much capital in their last games that moved the point line considerably, they had 11 points difference and after placing $ 2.5 million dollars, made it down to only 6 points difference in the betting table.

Lo mas grandioso de todo es que no puedes apostar los 2.5$ millones de dólares, llamarías mucho la atención, aquí nos enteramos que después de cierta cantidad de dinero en las casas de apuestas, ellos deben hacer un control de transacciones de dinero, eso puede alertar a muchas personas y como Joe no deseaba eso, sabia perfectamente como evadirlo y comprendía cual era la cantidad perfecta para apostar sin caer en ese control. Joe tenia mucha habilidad, por lo cual le dio gran parte del capital a su padre, luego a unos amigos de su padre y hacían apuestas en diferentes establecimientos por un monto menor al limite que se podía hacer para evitar el control de transacción.

Todo estaba perfectamente estudiado para que no hubieran errores, pudieron conseguir mucho dinero en los partidos que lograron manipular, pero la última apuesta fue con un capital muy fuerte, rompió su propia regla de llamar la atención y a parte que dentro de la cancha se empezó a observar situaciones extrañas con jugadores, lo que hizo que un grupo especializado del FBI comenzara investigaciones y diera con los responsables de estas malas acciones. Todas las apuestas iban hacia el equipo perdedor, Hedeke Smith tenia que ganar, pero por un margen de puntos que ellos establecían y esto causaba que al principio todo fuera perfecto. Jugaban para ganar por lo cual no tenían porque despertar sospechas, también apostar al equipo mas débil, hace que deje mucho mas dinero y la misión estaba en no ganar por una cantidad de puntos que seria el limite.

Opinión Final - Final Opinion

La narrativa del documental esta bien llevada, toda la historia va en perfecto orden, vemos a los protagonistas de este escandalo contar todo por sus propias palabras, también nos muestran imágenes de esos partidos manipulados, lo cual me parece excelente y de principio a fin puedo decir que resulta entretenido. Vemos como el dinero puede hacer que personas tomen malas decisiones, Hedake Smith era un jugador muy talentoso que seguramente iba hacia la NBA, no tenia necesidad de hacer esta aventura, una vez fuera reclutado por un equipo de la mejor liga de baloncesto, iba tener todo el dinero para vivir una vida tranquila sin preocupaciones económicas. Pero se fue por un mal camino, acabando con su prometedora carrera, igualmente Isaac Burton quien tampoco triunfo y por culpa de ellos el entrenador también perdió su trabajo.

The narrative of the documentary is well handled, the whole story goes in perfect order, we see the protagonists of this scandal tell everything in their own words, they also show us images of those manipulated games, which I think is excellent and from beginning to end I can say that it is entertaining. We see how money can make people make bad decisions, Hedake Smith was a very talented player who surely was going to the NBA, he had no need to make this adventure, once he was recruited by a team of the best basketball league, he would have all the money to live a quiet life without economic worries. But he went down the wrong path, ending his promising career, as did Isaac Burton who also failed to succeed and because of them the coach also lost his job.

Este documental nos hace pensar si todavía siguen sucediendo estas manipulaciones, personalmente creo que si, aunque me da tristeza por que claramente esto perjudica al deporte, la esencia del juego no debe ser manipulada jamás, todo tiene que estar siempre en la linea de la legalidad y utilizar este medio para hacer fortunas no esta nada bueno. Es increíble la manera como pueden conseguir que suceda, si solo 2 jugadores tuvieron la habilidad necesaria para llevar a cabo todo esto, no me quiero imaginar lo que pudiera conseguir toda una plantilla completa. Pero este documental deja una lección, dinero mal buscado, siempre te llevara hacia una caída en cualquier momento.

This documentary makes us think if these manipulations are still happening, personally I think so, although it makes me sad because this clearly harms the sport, the essence of the game should never be manipulated, everything has to be always in the line of legality and use this means to make fortunes is not good at all. It is unbelievable how they can make it happen, if only 2 players had the necessary skill to carry out all this, I can't imagine what a whole team could achieve. But this documentary leaves a lesson, money badly looked for, will always lead you to a fall at any time.
