The city of Maracaibo, is mainly known as the capital of the state of Zulia - Venezuela, located in the western region of the country, and has always been recognized for its cultural, historical and economic contribution, specifically for the oil activities, and for this opportunity I bring you a series of photographic postcards of some of the emblematic sites of this beautiful city, which has its charm tucked in its intense sun and heat.

Taking advantage that I had a short stay in this city, due to work reasons, I was able to take some pictures of some sites, which are recognized as heritage of this metropolis, and even of course many places of interest were missing, at least I show some of those sites that capture for any tourist the interest to appreciate it. Likewise, how to be surprised at first impression when you are arriving to the city of Maracaibo, when you see the imposing Rafael Urdaneta Bridge passing over several kilometers over the Maracaibo Lake, having a spectacular view of the bridge as well as part of the lake and the city.

The above mentioned, would be the first impression when visiting this city, in my case I had the opportunity to spend the bridge during the day, because on previous occasions had always been at night and also visited the city but never huce some tour of the same and know some of their sites.

Maracaibo, as a city save an important history, in addition to its architectural and patrimonial contribution of the country, with the construction of both colonial and modern structures, over a large area throughout the city, and really is a very large city, so its route can be composed of long stretches between sites to sites, but within all with public transport existence can be accessed to those specific places and of greatest interest to all visitors and tourists.

As to mention the fact of knowing part of the center of the city, where the basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá, place of congregation for many inhabitants who venerate the Virgin of Chiquinquirá, main image and patron saint of the Zulian region. But also throughout the center of the city, you can also access the Bolivar Square, the Baralt theater, the state government, the legislative palace and other sites that safeguard a historical and cultural interest.

While a few kilometers from downtown, you can visit places like the Plaza La República, where you can see an imposing obelisk, which has a certain resemblance to the obelisk of Buenos Aires, but this being a little smaller. And in the same sector a few meters away, you can start to see the Vereda del Lago promenade, where you can walk along the shores of Lake Maracaibo and have a great view of the bridge. Of course it is a very warm city, so you should be very hydrated and with adequate clothing, but also at certain times you can feel a little cool from the winds coming from the gulf itself and its connection to the sea.

All photographs are my own and were taken with a Canon T3i camera.

Beautiful postcards of Maracaibo, I went there this year and I found it to be a very beautiful city, thanks for capturing it.

As you mention the center has beautiful buildings starting with the Básilica and the Baralt Theater, did you go in or is it pending for another time?

Thanks for sharing the pictures and telling us about the city. 💜

Hey, I tried to enter both the Baralt Theater, but it was closed and in the case of the Basilica, I had to get a permit to take pictures. With much more time I have pending to do that. Greetings and thanks for the appreciation!
