BE HEARD | FAVOURITE SPORTS TALK QUOTES #1

Welcome to my first edition of my favourite Sports Talk Social quotes. Through my engagement and curation of posts I have collected my favourite quotes from the tribe that I have come across for the week. Here are my favourite six.

Lol, have you ever done a shoey? Is it THAT common?

In @edprivat's awesome post The MMA headlines, while we are waiting for the next event!, he asked if I have ever done a shoey. For those that don't know, it's an Australian tradition where you drink alcohol from a shoe. I was telling him how proud I was of Tai Tuivasa's shoey, and his 'Shoeyvasa' which you can check it here. As an Aussie with a Samoan background, I can say that I haven't done a Shoey or a Shoeyvasa but if HIVE ever reaches $100, you all better hold me to it!

but the one I have firsthand experience of is the Old Firm between Celtic and Rangers. I have been to three of them over the years and the build up, match and atmosphere were unbelievable.

On my post What is the World's Greatest Football Rivalry? the fantastic @ablaze made me jealous with envy that he's been to the Old Firm Celtic and Rangers. Thanks for that! I only wrote about it late last year that it's on my bucket list of sports events to do before I die...

I went to support Celtic and actually you just reminded me of a really cool story about the last match I went to, that involves top notch middle of the park tickets and a guitar player from a legendary Scottish band! I'm going to do a Sports Talk Social post about it this week - thanks for the inspiration man!!

Looking forward to this banger of a post from @ablaze.

New Zealand All Blacks rugby team is mainly imports from the Islands of Samoa ,Fiji and you can't blame the players as they follow the money

I was pleased with the engagement from the community in How Multiculturalism Can Win World Cup 2022 and @cryptoandcoffee made a perfect comparison. Again, my Samoan background and living in Australia made this completely relevant to me. It's an issue that leaves players torn on allegiance because of factors like family, money and loyalty. It's a complex issue and it works both ways.

So it would appear that Spurs are once again chasing the signature of one Adama Traore, a footballer who can best be described as part man, part fridge-freezer.

If the title from @talesfrmthecrypt's post Is this blunt instrument the solution to Spurs lack of cutting edge? wasn't funny enough, the opening paragraph is surely worth a chuckle.

If only he can lose some weight.
But yes different culture and play style can really give a big impact on a player.
Hazard seems not really hazardous anymore

@moealdabbagh wrote The Context of: Hazard's Suffering at Real Madrid and @alt-runner came in with this cracker. As a Chelsea fan, I can't help but have a case of Schadenfreude toward Real Madrid.

Would love to hear any more from the community that I may have missed!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

You know us Poms like a bit of sarcasm. It's to be expected when you come from a country that is cold and dark half the year + has a shit cricket team 😀

Fortunately enough the server for BT Sport (the site I watch it on) was down all morning so I missed it! Things were looking promising early on but then the inevitable collapse followed. A full post-mortem to follow...

oh my goodness. Would've been a horror to see the Poms at 0-78 I think it was, then get all out later on in the day.

My fav. however was the 4th test and trying to chase down the 10 wickets in the second innings. It was such an anti-climax but the last 10 overs was phenomenal and the ball swinging like a monkey from a tree
