Country: Denmark
Nickname: De Rød-Hvide (The Red and Whites) Danish Dynamite

Last World Cup Appearance: 2018 (Round of 16)
Previous World Cup Appearances: 1986, 1998, 2002, 2010, 2018

World Rank: #10
Star Players: Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg, Andreas Christense, Joachim Andersen, Christian Eriksen

Entering into September, Denmark are a top 10 country and ahead of Germany! Surprising? It surprised me to be honest. When you take a look a bit deeper it starts to make a bit more sense.

The Danes qualified out of UEFA's Group F after winning 9 out of 10 games. They topped their qualification group and did so in style.

Denmark scored 29 straight goals without conceding until an 89th minute Faroese goal in a game they still won 3-1 during the second last game. A 2-nil final game loss to Scotland was irrelevant as they already secured qualification. It meant they ended the group with 30 goals and conceded only three.

World Cup Group: Group D - France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia

Prediction: In Euro 2020 Denmark lost against Finland in the opening game but it was during extreme circumstances after what happened to Christian Eriksen. The next match saw Denmark put on a great show against Belgium, only to e outdone by the Thorgan Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne.

A 4-1 final game win against Russia propelled them into the knockouts. They smashed Wales, beat the Czechs and lost in the semifinals to England.

The Danish have an extremely strong team on paper and are going to be very hard to beat. Centre-back Andreas Christensen headlines the defense alongside Premier League defenders Joachim Andersen and Jannik Vestergaard. The experienced Kasper Schmeichel will play behind the strong defensive pairing.

There defence is going to be extremely difficult to breakdown and all they'd need to do is ensure they score goals. Tottenham's Pierre Emile Højbjer is the star of the midfield and La Liga midfield Thomas Delaney is an exceptionally strong defensive midfielder. Up front there's the dangerous Kasper Dolberg and Yussuf Poulsen who are options to head up the front line.

Denmark is a team flying under the radar with some big names, evident by the fact I was shocked that they had managed to sneak into the top 10 in the FIFA World Rankings.

This is a prediction with my heart and not my head. My head says that Denmark can make a very, very deep run with the potential to emulate their Euro 2020 success. My heart says Denmark will exit at the group stage in a boil over at the expense of Australia.

These reviews are dope! I can't wait to read through the rest of the teams. This is the type of content I love to see on Hive because it's actually something I wish to consume.

There are players one naturally just love, for me, Christian Eriksen is that player, he performs very well for his age, I wish him good luck as he goes into the world cup.

I agree, Eriksen I've somewhat understated. Probably doesn't help that I can't stand Man United 😅
The fact he's playing at the tournament is a blessing in itself I'm sure we can all agree on

Hi friend,
Nice education on the Danish team. Are you saying Belgium lost to Denmark in the semis? I can't even recall how far Denmark went in that event.

I didn't know a couple of the players mentioned were Danish. I think they have a strong assembly to make a case in the World Cup.
Thanks man.

Cheers

Hey bro, nah in the group stages Belgium beat the Danes. The Danes then went on to play Wales (Belgium had Portugal), the Czechs then lost to England in ET

Hi senior bro,
Welcome onboard my post. Seems my comments are more.😁

I'm getting a lil bit confused now. The Czechs were beaten by the Danes, your post says.."They smashed Wales, beat the Czechs..".

The original question was on the semis with reference to your post.
Thanks

Thanks for the callout. It didn't make sense that Denmark beat Denmark 🫢
