RE: Listen To The Referee

This absolutely stung. The first game of rugby I watched in probably about a decade. The last I'll watch for another two. I can understand if there was a precedent. Why pick this moment to create a new precedent?

I do think the Aussies were rather naïve in their reading of the situation as other players were shouting at him to kick the ball and he thought he was being clever slowing it down. yes the referee could have added on time at the end but he had called it twice already and seriously if it takes 40 seconds to kick a ball into touch which results in a lineout you will win and thus the game they were super stupid. I am not sure what the referees have been told to look out for and clean up but this has to be one of them. Every year we used to get a list of areas to look at in order to help speed the game up. As an ex player an ex referee I can see both sides and to be honest it was a tough call, but a justified one. Only a few referees would have made this decision and to be fair one of the tries earlier had a blatant forward pass that was ignored by the TMO. The Aussies have themselves to blame for this and no one else.
