The Reasons Why We All Hate Manchester United

I apologise to United fans in advance. I'm a United hater so it's easy for me to write this. You're either in love with Man United or you're with the rest of us who hate the Red Devils. Full disclosure I am a Chelsea fan so of course I'm going to hate United.

Many fans grew up during the era of Sir Alex's dominance and fell in love with United. I grew up suffering like many other fans as United won trophy after trophy. Well let's take a look at the reasons why we're all united in the hate of ManUre.

United Fans are Glory Hunters

Manure is a fertiliser made up of animal faeces and urine that farmers use to help their crops. When stylised ManUre, it's what all those who hate Manchester United call their fans.
Manchester United fans are glory hunters. They have the lowest concentration of support in their local area with just 29% of their fans living in Manchester. Despite all the oil money, even City fans have a more loyal local support.

🙏 “90% of our fans are from the local area and are working class people.”

🙌 “We’re the most loyal fans! We proved it! 32,000 fans in the 3rd division!” 🔴 “You’re talking 35% tourist fans at #MUFC, they’re not proper fans!” #MCFC fan defends City’s fan base 🔥 pic.twitter.com/ud7nXbHBKH — talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) September 16, 2021

Manchester United is the most valuable team in England and 11th most valuable sports team in the entire world, valued at just under £3 billion. But the way in which they’ve done so is something even their own fans hate.

Manchester Players Are Dirty

Manchester United are one of the most hated football clubs in England and the players they recruit plays a big part in it. There's no denying that to become a United player you need to be a good player.

But those who hate Manchester United will hate Cristiano Ronaldo because he's a diver and he's arrogant. You'll hate Roy Keane because he's a hardened midfielder who's psychotically outspoken. You'll despise Wayne Rooney cause all he did was score against your favourite team.

It's Eric Cantona however that sums up why we all hate Manchester United.

Manchester Is Anti-football

The Glazer family owns Manchester United after Malcolm Glazer had taken full ownership of the club in 2005. Most of the purchase was a leveraged buyout, another reason we hate Manchester United.

The majority of the purchase was made with loans which are secured by the clubs assets. After being debt free for so long the purchase meant the club was in debt and levels peaked at £778m in 2010. It's not ideal for United fans when you see how bankrupt English football clubs have failed in the past. Manchester United continues to bleed money from debt interest and dividends.

Even United fans hate Manchester United and what they've become. Former supporters created a member-owned breakaway club in 2005 called FC United of Manchester. To top it all off United co-chairman Joel Glazer wanted to start a breakaway European Super League in 2021.

BREAKING: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham have agreed to join a breakaway European Super League.

Yep, I'm sure Leeds fans will feel the same, perhaps even more stronger than Chelsea fans

They will never allow my club rest. Although you gave your reasons for the hate, it is allowed.

Chelsea fans, arsenal fans, Liverpool fans, all in the same boat. I can imagine how happy you all are at the club's current misery

After 26 years of Sir Alex Ferguson we are going to enjoy every minute of it 😀

My only fear is that the owners seem so clueless that they seem bent on taking the team through a 26 year barren run

A great read.

As a Saints fan I've often lamented over the numerous drubbings that Man Utd have handed down to my team over the years, including a 9-0 result in 2020/21...ouch that smarts.

But there's always a bright side to be had - last season we drew both matches, mind you we all know Man U were total rubbish last year - and hoorah for that. But three of my favourite wins against the "mighty" Reds were - the FA Cup Final 1976, a 1-0 win, then there was the grey kit debacle in 1995/96, 3-1 Saints, and finally thumping them 6-3 six months later, and a week after they'd lost to Newcastle 5-0. Fergie must have apoplectic after those two results...lol. Happy Days indeed.

"When the Saints go marching in". Great club. I remember Southampton mostly for James Beattie. Criminally underrated striker! Le Tissier was a bit before my days.

Did you ever get to the Dell back in the day?

Yeah, managed to get in about a dozen games a season until i moved to London, then less often. Loved how away teams always said they hated playing there as it was so compact and the crowd so close to the pitch - very intimidating atmosphere back then. Both great players, Tiss we called Le God, his vision for a pass was brilliant, and scored some cracking goals too. Beattie was also a firm fan favourite always putting in a great effort every game and a scored a lot. Neither got the international recognition they deserved unfortunately.
