We Found the Fastest Player in Premier League History (Part 2)

G'day tribe! Yesterday I posted the first part of the fastest player in Premier League history series which you can see in my posts here.

Let's take a look at the final part and the speeds the two fastest players ever have reached!

2 (22).jpg

2. Adama Traore 37.787 km/h

The second fastest Premier League player in history is Adama Traore. The hulking winger is explosive to say the least with his bulky physique and lighting quick speeds. Traore hit an incredible speed of 37.787 km/h (23.48mph) against Chelsea on the final day of the Premier League season in 2020.

A product of Barcelona's famed La Masia, Traore was brought over by Aston Villa before a move to Middlesbrough. A move to Wolverhampton in 2018 unlocked his true talents. The combination of his beastly physique and lightning speed makes him almost impossible to stop one on one.

Traore will be out to prove he’s not a one trick pony and will need to exert more influence on games with his defensive contributions and his finishing touch.

1. Kyle Walker 37.802 km/h

Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is the fastest player in Premier League history. The outrageously quick right-back reached an outrageous speed of 37.802 km/h (23.49mph) against Chelsea in June 2020.

Is Kyle Walker faster than Usain Bolt? Well, not that fast. Walker challenged him on Instagram but he'd be no match. In 2011 Bolt ran a time of 9.76 seconds over 100 metres, hitting a top speed of 43.99 km/h (27.33 mph).

The England international’s pace has been his most lethal asset and he’s torn up opposition while at Manchester City down the right flank. His speed allows him to get around defenses with ease and to deliver dangerous crosses, creating multiple chances for City.

Without a doubt, these players have the incredible pace that can threaten any opposition. Manchester City’s Kyle Walker deservedly tops the list as the fastest player in Premier League history.

Fastest Player in Premier League 2021/22

In 2021/22 nobody could match the top five fastest players in Premier League history. The highest top speed clocked in the 2021/22 Premier League season was by German centre back Antonio Rudiger against Brighton at 36.7 km/h.

Rudiger's top speed wouldn't even make it into the fastest ever Premier League top speeds which were all achieved in the 2019/20 season.

Kyle Walker is officially the quickest player in the Premier League - clocking 23.49mph against Chelsea last month. Phil Foden with the tenth fastest speed, clocking 23.07mph against Aston Villa in October.

Remarkably, two of the top five speeds in 2021/22 were achieved by central defenders with Liverpool's Ibrahima Konaté coming in third place, just behind teammate Mohamed Salah.

Aston Villa and Leicester City strikers Ollie Watkins and Patson Daka both clocked a top speed of 36.1 km/h to tie for fastest top speed.

Player Team Top Speed
1. Antonio Rudiger Chelsea 36.7 km/h
2. Mohamed Salah Liverpool 36.6 km/h
3. Ibrahima Konate Liverpool 36.2 km/h
=4. Ollie Watkins Aston Villa 36.1 km/h
=4. Patson Daka Leicester City 36.1 km/h

Wow! I wasn't expecting that. Despite Adama's bulk he is still so fast. Among these fast players Kyle Walker is one i can say is using his speed well.

Yep Adama is an absolute beast. Would have huge quads and glutes to be able to explode with such pace!

For some inexplicable reasons both players clocked their fastest speed against Chelsea in the year 2020. Is their a pattern to that or am I just being paranoid right now?

I reckon that Chelsea perhaps brought out the best out of other players which is why they would've hit their top speeds then

Maybe, or maybe those dudes enjoyed ripping into Chelsea with reckless abandon. 😁

As for the fastest dudes, I was expecting this dude that loves running towards the corner flag, Daniel James, to be in the top 2. The guy would've been a better sprinter compared to being a footballer.

Traore is one fast dude. Haha. Some say he is built for American football.

With that speed of his, he always gets an edge whenever they go on a counter attack. This reminds me of a Sprint duel he had with VVD some 2 years ago. Haha. I have special liking for fast players.

The issue with Adama is that he is not clinical enough. Aside from that, he would have been one hell of a football.

As for Walker, his speed have been helpful in his position. It's hard to outrun him in that right-back position. Haha.

Great point. Adama as a wide receiver in American football would be so interesting. You're right, Adama is so fast but almost too fast for his liking in terms of his finishing. It's like his trying to kick a ball while flying in an ice skating rink at full speed

Oh that would be good! Unfortunately I'm still waiting for them to finish running off the pitch to be able to even clock their speed 🤣

I'd love to witness Kyle Walker up against Adama Traore sprint it out in a match. Both are lightening fast and are physically premium. It would be a joy to behold

A cheetah runs at 100kph and its so cool to see that tge epl strikers have bit ability to half the pace, ha ha. Very interesting is the speedometer running well on the pitch.
Great to see Salah on the list, thats unbelievable that he could generate such sheer sprint!!
