Feel the wind as it lifts your invisible wings. It's mystical and relaxing but also tribal and witchy.

No matter how small or insignificant or infinitesimal you may feel, in this space/time, the universe is complete and whole because of YOU. That is what "Om vrish elle" means (one with it all). You are not small. You are Nature, You are Earth, you are the Cosmos.

I'm just a small independent artist, not many know my work, even though I've been around for more than two decades. Sometimes it's difficult not to feel small and invisible. We all face those times where we feel meaningless but then when I'm in the woods, just walking in Nature and I engage my senses, the touch, the smells, the sounds... I feel like this little speck that I am, right now is part of that "whole". And it's humbling yet makes you feel connected with something "endless"

I love writing music, and though I'd love to reach out to more people I rely in the process. I am grateful for those who already appreciate, and the things that are set in motion with each song, maybe to heal someone, or to touch the soul of someone. You never know.

Music is indeed my therapy and hope it brings comfort to others as it does to myself. To whomever that appreciates it, thank you.

Location

The video has two locations. Mostly filmed in Urbasa beechwoods with additional footage from Quinto Real Forest, both in Navarre, North of Spain on two glorious misty days. It was filmed Summer 2021, though the song released this Autumn Equinox and the video has just gone live for the first time some hours ago.

What is petrichor? A little bit of Science and curious facts

Petrichor is the smell of earth after it rains. It comes from the Green Petra (Stone) and Ichor (the golden blood in God's veins). It is a very musty and earthy scent, especially strong when it rains lightly after a dry period, or when soil is disturbed. I love the smell, it's so grounding. You can perceive it too in some vegetables like beetroots. I practice mindful walk so it's like smelling the forest. In reality the reason for this smell is a substance called Geosmin (C12H22O) a by-cyclic alcohol made by Actinomycetes bacteria living in the soil. Geosmin comes from "geo" (earth) and "osme" (smell). And it is basically "the smell of earth". When raindrops fall on the porous surface the air in the pores forms bubbles that emerge as aerosols carrying the distinct smell. Sure it doesn't sound so romantic this way but many animals rely on the detection of this to look for water sources in Nature, and even if compared to animals, human sense of smell is not that great, we are particularly sensitive to this chemical, being able to detect as low as 0.4 parts per billion. The threshold in humans is unusually low compared to other substances. This sensitivity also reflects a "memory" of our ancestors that relied on rain for survival.

Building "Om Vrish Elle" sound

I wanted to be mystical and magical so I used Nature sounds like rustling and wind. I also used my wind band bullroarer in a percussive way. I tried to spin with the basic beat of the song that builds around a "drone sound" though later move on to other chords that "dance" around the drone as I spin in the video.
I love going out to Nature and just chant and sing along my windband, it really is the seed of many songs

I also included koshi chimes to enhance this "ethereal quality" and windy "soundscape"

And in addition in several parts my voice is sung like a windy whisper and layered on top of the rest of the vocals, sometimes even mimicking the sounds and howling of the wind as if it were about to utter words.
Maybe "Om vrish Elle" ;-)

Part of the percussion was made tapping wood, the back of my kantele, seed shakers and other surfaces. I wanted to be very tribal, so the rhythm was born out of tapping with my hands while I was chanting. There is minimal lead instrumentation. I wanted the song to be mainly vocal but at the same time the lead vocal is only "one layer more" and the repeating "mantra" repeats but it always carries slight variations if you pay attention. I wanted that quality not to make a super loud distracting lead but more a blended resonating meditative power affirmation. That's why the song ends with a long tail of nature sounds, haunting distant chants and in a opportunity to wind down, calm our senses and just listen

As a fun fact the fat drone bass sound in the middle of the song was made by my coffee maker... XD I guess I have to share a little video about it. Whenever I was preparing coffee I would chant this along and at the end I decided to include the sound. Sometimes the final textures of a song includes samples come from very unusual places.
