The 1st match of the ODI series Sri Lanka vs South Africa was played yesterday at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, in which Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 14 runs.

Sri Lanka batted first after winning the toss, scored 300 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka played a brilliant half-century partnership of 57 runs for the first wicket, Minod Bhanuka dismissed after scoring 27 runs with the help of 3 boundaries in 39 balls as first wicket, Avishka Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva made another brilliant half-century partnership of 79 runs for the third wicket, Dhananjaya de Silva played a brilliant inning of 44 runs with the help of 5 boundaries in 62 balls, Avishka Fernando and Charith Asalanka played another brilliant half-century partnership of 97 runs for the fourth wicket, Avishka Fernando played a brilliant century inning of 118 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 10 boundaries in 115 balls, and Charith Asalanka played a brilliant half-century inning of 72 runs with the help of 1 six and 6 boundaries in 62 balls, besides of this Chamika Karunaratne scored 7 runs, Dasun Shanaka 6 runs, Wanindu Hasaranga 3 runs, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dushmantha Chameera and Akila Dananjaya dismissed without scoring. In this way, Sri Lanka batted first after winning the toss, scored 300 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, and set a target of 301 runs in front of South Africa.

South Africa's bowlers Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj took 2-2 wickets, Aiden Markram and Tabrez Shamsi got 1-1 wicket.

Sri Lankan batsman Avishka Fernando was adjudged the man of the match, he played a very brilliant century inning of 118 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 10 boundaries in 115 balls.
