If Giannis wants to go to Chicago, that would be great, but the important thing is not to mortgage the team and to define a direction because being a mid-table team doesn't help much since, as you say, they would have intermediate draft picks and wouldn't be able to acquire the best players. Undoubtedly, the best thing is to trade some players for draft picks and try to have a losing record, and thus try to acquire a potential number 1 pick who can be the foundation for building a winning team in the coming years.
