Today Sunday, 1 March 2026. The Emirates Stadium was a cauldron of red and white noise as Arsenal delivered a statement victory over Chelsea, running out with hard fought 2-1 winners in a fiery North London derby. Goals from William Saliba and Jurrien Timber sealed the three points in front of a raucous home crowd, sending a clear message to the rest of the Premier League: Mikel Arteta’s side are not just chasing silverware, they are hunting the lot.

The importance of this result cannot be overstated. Arsenal entered the weekend top of the table on 61 points from 28 games, five points clear of Manchester City (who have a game in hand). Three points today took them to 64 from 29, now five points ahead of their nearest rivals with City still to play their 29th fixture.

Arsenal managed the game out professionally, with David Raya making key saves to deny Palmer and Moisés Caicedo. It was gritty, nervy, and at times uncomfortable, but the three points were banked.Itvended;
