Hello football on Hive lovers,it matchday again and welcome to my blog @zusi78.
Today Sunday, 1 March 2026. The Emirates Stadium was a cauldron of red and white noise as Arsenal delivered a statement victory over Chelsea, running out with hard fought 2-1 winners in a fiery North London derby. Goals from William Saliba and Jurrien Timber sealed the three points in front of a raucous home crowd, sending a clear message to the rest of the Premier League: Mikel Arteta’s side are not just chasing silverware, they are hunting the lot.

ARSENAL CHASING THE QUADRUPLE!!!

MATCH MOMENTS

The importance of this result cannot be overstated. Arsenal entered the weekend top of the table on 61 points from 28 games, five points clear of Manchester City (who have a game in hand). Three points today took them to 64 from 29, now five points ahead of their nearest rivals with City still to play their 29th fixture.
Mikel Arteta's side didn't dazzle or dominate proceedings, but they did what champions do: grind out the result when it matter most.In addition, It is not just three points, this victory was was a psychological hammer blow. Arsenal had already knocked Chelsea out of the Carabao Cup semi-finals in January (winning 4-2 on aggregate). Today they did it again on the biggest stage, in front of 60,000+ supporters who have waited years for nights like this. The atmosphere was electric from kick-off; the players fed off it.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

The game started cagily, with Chelsea under Liam Rosenior looking organized and threatening.
Arsenal broke the deadlock in the 21st minute from their first corner: Bukayo Saka's inswinger was nodded back across goal by Gabriel Magalhaes, allowing Saliba to bundle home from close range his first goal since December 2024 and Arsenal's 15th from set-pieces this season. 1-0 Arsenal leads

The Gunners failed to build on the lead, however and Chelsea equalized in first-half stoppage time when Reece James' corner was diverted into his own net by Arsenal's Piero Hincapie, an unfortunate own goal that highlighted defensive frailties.1-1 game on.
The second half saw Arsenal introduce Gabriel Martinelli for Leandro Trossard in the 56th minute, injecting energy, but Chelsea continued to probe. The turning point arrived in the 66th minute, Another corner, this time from Declan Rice, found Timber unmarked to head in powerfully,his first Premier League goal since joining from Ajax. 2-1,lead restored.

Moments later, Chelsea's Pedro Neto was sent off for a second yellow card (the Blues' seventh red of the season), tilting the balance. Arsenal managed the game out professionally, with David Raya making key saves to deny Palmer and Moisés Caicedo. It was gritty, nervy, and at times uncomfortable, but the three points were banked.Itvended;
