Actifit Ulog 7 August 2019 - My first blockchain and cryptocurrency event this year!

Hey everyone! It's been a busy day indeed. You won't believe but the first half of the day went by and I didn't realise that my Actifit App on my phone had not initialised and hence it didn't start counting activity steps until after 12 pm! What a bummer! I might actually have crossed 10K if not for that. Oh well, lesson learnt, will have to check into the app in the morning when I wake up.

The day started off as usual, with lots of stuff to complete at work. Client follow-ups, candidate interviews...etc. I won't bore you with work stuff but then finally it was 6 pm! Time to head off to the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton! Yay! I was invited by friends and it has been a long while since I met up with them plus it was the perfect opportunity to catch up on what's what in the blockchain/crypto world. The theme of this event was "Into The Future of Payments 5.0"

The event starts at 6 pm but I could only leave the office at 6 but I knew that dinner was being served and it was ok to arrive it was buffet style anyway. I was excited and wanted to catch up with friends from the industry and listen to them share about what has been happening in the course of the last 6 months. As you know, in the blockchain world, 6 months in a long time as things change so rapidly!

I arrived and promptly got myself registered and the first person I met was my friend Harpreet who owns and runs a company called Blocklime They are a company that builds blockchain solutions and offers specialised training in blockchain and distributed ledger technologies in Malaysia. He himself actually also just arrived and was setting up his booth and we both quickly took a wefie! Then another good friend who is part of the team that organised the event today decided to jump in on the photo! Jason a.k.a @buzz.lightyear made it a threesome! LOL! Of course, you can't go to a blockchain event and not see the man himself, Colbert Low! He started @bitcoinmalaysia and was one of the earliest adopters and a passionate advocate of blockchain in Malaysia!

After all the photo taking, we all decided to fill our stomach with food and then it was time for the talks to start. This was an event organised by BTC123 and B91. BTC 123 is a popular crypto news channel from China. There were other projects who were presenting like VVCoin and a new exchange. They also had a panel style question and answer session, unfortunately the sound system in the room was inadequate with only one speaker?? You would think that the facilities in a Double Tree Hotel could be a tad bit better. The food however was not bad at all and they had a great selection of not only food but also tea and freshly brewed coffee.

After the talk, it was a solid hour of networking and chatting with different people. I am happy to say that it was a pretty fruitful night indeed. I got to meet with good friends and some doors for my recruitment business might just open up!

p/s must remind myself to change to flat shoes next time! I was hobbling all the way back to the car in my high heels! Ouch!
