My Actifit Report Card: September 7 2019 - long run Saturday

avatar

Today’s 26.5 km run was hard work. The plan was to run 27 kms but the water fountain in the park was too tempting (since I stupidly didn’t stop for hydration at all until that point!). Once I’d stopped that close to the end there was no way I was going to run another 500 metres!

It was very windy which didn’t help. Sometimes I was pushing hard only to feel like I was running in slow motion. At other times it felt like I was being pushed with the wind behind me. But it wasn’t just that. Normally running is a form of meditation for me but today I was all over the place.

Anyway I’m thinking of doing things slightly differently next week. I won’t do such a long run on Saturday. It will still be long but not as long as today. Instead I’ll aim to run a bit further for my mid-week evening runs and also run on Sunday so that the total distance for the seven days is greater than the previous seven :-)

mrshill is away this weekend so I went to my parents’ house for dinner and they served me food she doesn’t like (lamb shanks). Yum!

Epic running route

Did I mention that I like rows of terrace houses all painted in different colours? So these are mostly grey-scale, not as fun as if they were brightly-coloured! Anyway most of my photos from long runs are harbour shots. I felt like sharing something different :-)

Wow! Such a long run! Why? Are you training for a Marathon or an ultra?

The run I want to enter next year is a 45 km trail run in the Blue Mountains. I need to do an eligible qualifying time to enter. I’ve entered a 32 km trail run in November in Canberra to qualify for the run next year. That’s what I’m training for.

*When someone tells you that what you want to do is impossible, change the word in your head to hard. What you want to do is hard. Hard is doable – it just requires dedicated work and effort and you can make it happen.

That is an impressive run. Long and good pace (in my world)! Too bad it was a rough day but you got the run done! And lamb afterwards sounds really yummy.
