Steemians in Zurich: August 29 2019
A Day in Zurich
First me and @vincentnijman decided to go downtown, as I live a town outside the city borders.
After meeting vincent in town and putting him on a boat, i cycled to the stop he would arrive on and waited under a tree with a view on the lake.
While waiting I spotted Gunnar Jauch, who is a legend in Zurich because the police wanted to arrest him for making bubbles for world peace. The story became really famous when the whole city demonstrated during his court case.
Racial Profiling
Reminds me of how many bills i have never paid for busking with spontaneous demonstrations against racism and racial profiling from 2001 - 2006. Racial profiling still happens in switzerland a lot and the police is trained to identify superficial patterns and usually judge according to the color of people‘s skin. I remember not being able to walk for more than 50 Meters without being checked while wearing a formal shirt and tight jeans when i was younger. The photo from above is A few days old and it still happens. On my last encounters they approached me and heard me speak the local swiss german dialect and told me to put my ID back before i even pulled it out. They usually see my ID and when hearing my dominant greeting with lots of authority and say: „ Never mind, we are looking for someone else“
We decided to move toward the other side of the lake close to ‚enge‘.
After filling up our water bottles at that beautful fountain, we decided to have a beer at ‚enge‘.
The light in Zurich was getting better by the minute, so we had our beers and decided to go back around the other side again.
We crossed the bridge at Bürkliplatz and there were musicians playing at the promenade, which added to a great sunset Ambience.
We sat down and watched the sunset and spoke about going back and watching terminator 2 with a snack and some self made vegan chocolate peanut butter ice cream sweetened with dates and bananas instead of sugar.
Us leaving the same time, i arrived about 15 min earlier, because public transport is still a bit slower than cycling in Zurich.
Had a lot of fun at the Zurich Lakeside with Steemian @vincentnijman. He left earlier today and it‘s been awesome to spend so much quality time with another Steemian while meeting up with @karinxxl and @exyle during my first experience. Next on my list is Berlin and meeting as many steemians there as possible. If anyone has suggestions, kindly leave a comment and tag someone you suggest. I decided to approach companies to invest and stake in steem where ever I am.
